The Helmholtz Association announced last February that an international team of researchers including, Dr. James Eills from IBEC, has received the 2021 Erwin Schrödinger Prize for a technique that amplifies magnetic resonance signals inexpensively and extraordinarily. The prize comes with an endowment of €50,000. Dr. Eills brings the technology to IBEC, where he will be working over the next few years as a BIST-FBA Fellow in the Group of Junior Group Leader Irene Marco, Molecular Imaging for Precision Medicine.

BIST-FBA Fellow Programme

The BIST-FBA Fellows programme was launched by Fundació Bosch Aymerich (FBA), in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) to give momentum to excellent research and teaching in the fields of health and energy and environmental sustainability. Dr. Eills’ research will be an important contribution to the programme and to the BIST Community.

The prize announcement coincides with the official welcome to the BIST Community for the five FBA Fellows (three BIST-FBA and 2 UIC-FBA), as well as nine new PROBIST Fellows, at a welcome meeting with BIST Director Gabby Silberman on February 22. The new PROBIST Fellows received two-year research fellowships through the final call of the programme, which is co-funded through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
