The objectives of this programme are to foster high-quality, innovative research in Spain and Portugal and to support the best scientific talent by providing them with an attractive, competitive environment in which to conduct excellent research.<\/p>\n<p>The Postdoctoral Junior Leader fellowships programme is divided into two different frames:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"big-arrow\">\n<li><strong>Postdoctorate Junior Leader \u2013\u00a0<em>Incoming<\/em><\/strong>: 25 postdoctoral fellowships for researchers of all nationalities. They will be offered a three-year employment contract to conduct a research project at accredited centres with the Severo Ochoa or Mar\u00eda de Maeztu excellence award, Institutos de Investigaci\u00f3n Sanitaria Carlos IIII and units evaluated as excellent\u00a0by the Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia of Portugal.<br \/>\nFor Spanish institutions, candidates must have resided in Spain\u00a0<strong>less than 12 months in the last three years\u00a0<\/strong>while for Portuguese institutions, candidates must have resided in Portugal less than 12 months in the last three years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Postdoctorate Junior Leader \u2013\u00a0<em>Retaining<\/em><\/strong>: 15\u00a0postdoctoral fellowships for researchers of all nationalities to carry out research at any university or research centre in Spain or Portugal. For Spanish institutions, candidates must have resided in Spain more than 12 months in the last three years while for Portuguese institutions, candidates must have resided in Portugal more than 12 months in the last three years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By means of a complementary training programme, these fellowships are intended to consolidate research skills and to foster an independent scientific career as an option for the future.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this complementary training, Junior Leader fellows have to pursue a mandatory secondment in a different institution to increase their transversal skills. These secondments, with a duration between 3 to 6 months, must be performed in an international or intersectorial institution.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>IBEC is one of the top CERCA research institutions named as a Severo Ochoa Research Centre by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (in charge of research and innovation policy in Spain), which recognizes excellence at the highest international level in terms of research, training, human resources, outreach and technology transfer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IBEC has also received the \u2018Human Resources Excellence in Research\u2019 seal from the European Commission, in recognition of its commitment to continuously improving its HR policies in line with The European Charter of Researchers and The Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.<\/p>\n<p>IBEC aims to train the next generation of researchers in Bioengineering for Future Medicine, Regenerative Therapies and Active Ageing.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to IBEC\u2019s interdisciplinarity, the most recent technical and technological approaches developed for research in biology and the biomedical sciences are available. Young researchers can acquire experience and practical training day-to-day in both the classical approaches and new methodologies in imaging techniques, nanomaterials technology, nanofabrication, biosensors, biosignal interpretation, lab-on-a-chip approaches, and many more.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>&#8220;la Caixa\u201d Foundation<\/strong> is a Spanish non-profit organisation whose mission is to contribute towards the progress of people and society. Its main lines of action are to provide opportunities for the most vulnerable groups; to support progress through educational, scientific and cultural activities; to contribute towards greater understanding and improvement of the environment; to promote research in the fields of life sciences, healthcare, social sciences and humanities; and to foster the dissemination of science and technology.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1982, &#8220;la Caixa\u201d Banking Foundation has offered its fellowships programmes\u2014through which more than 4,000 talented young people have received fellowships to take up postgraduate studies or begin their research careers in Spain and abroad.
