El projecte de Lagunas proposa un dispositiu anomenat model de barrera hematoencef\u00e0lica en xip, que funciona com a m\u00e8tode de prova de f\u00e0rmacs m\u00e9s hum\u00e0 i prec\u00eds. Per la seva banda, el projecte Brain-TAG de Gonzalez-Carter ha desenvolupat un proc\u00e9s per crear &#8220;punts de parada&#8221; especials en els vasos sanguinis del cervell per administrar f\u00e0rmacs de forma dirigida a aquest \u00f2rgan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambd\u00f3s projectes formen part del selecte 7% de seleccionats, d&#8217;entre les 428 sol\u00b7licituds rebudes en aquesta convocat\u00f2ria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El programa CaixaImpulse dona suport a <strong>projectes biom\u00e8dics<\/strong> procedents de centres de recerca, hospitals i universitats d&#8217;Espanya i Portugal. La iniciativa t\u00e9 com a objectiu <strong>accelerar l&#8217;arribada al mercat<\/strong> d&#8217;aquestes innovacions per acostar-les als pacients que puguin necessitar-les. Aquesta barrera t\u00e9 un paper crucial a l\u2019hora de protegir el cervell de subst\u00e0ncies nocives, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 impedeix que molts tractaments potencialment efica\u00e7os arribin al seu objectiu. Els m\u00e8todes actuals per provar nous tractaments, com els experiments amb animals o els models de laboratori simplificats, sovint no proporcionen resultats precisos. Les proves amb animals plantegen q\u00fcestions \u00e8tiques i, sovint, els resultats no prediuen com es comportaran els f\u00e0rmacs en persones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per resoldre aquest problema, aquest projecte proposa un nou dispositiu que imita la barrera natural que protegeix el cervell. Aquest dispositiu, anomenat <strong>model de barrera hematoencef\u00e0lica en xip<\/strong>, recrea l\u2019entorn protector del cervell hum\u00e0 amb m\u00e9s precisi\u00f3 que els m\u00e8todes anteriors. Utilitzant sensors avan\u00e7ats integrats al dispositiu, permet als cient\u00edfics mesurar en quina mesura els f\u00e0rmacs poden travessar la barrera, combinant eines basades en la llum i lectures el\u00e8ctriques. Aquesta innovaci\u00f3 permet als investigadors provar ter\u00e0pies dirigides al cervell en un model m\u00e9s realista i predictiu, millorant la fiabilitat dels resultats i reduint la necessitat de fer proves amb animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019objectiu final d\u2019aquesta tecnologia \u00e9s accelerar el descobriment de tractaments per a afeccions com les malalties cerebrals, abaratir costos i fer el proc\u00e9s m\u00e9s \u00e8tic. En replicar les condicions del cervell hum\u00e0 de manera m\u00e9s fidel, aquest dispositiu pot identificar quins f\u00e0rmacs tenen m\u00e9s possibilitats d\u2019\u00e8xit en els assaigs cl\u00ednics, estalviant possiblement anys d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 i grans quantitats de diners. Els desenvolupadors estan treballant ara per millorar el dispositiu, adaptar-lo a les necessitats del mercat, assegurar-ne la propietat intel\u00b7lectual i validar-ne el funcionament per a un futur \u00fas en l\u2019atenci\u00f3 sanit\u00e0ria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aquesta tecnologia innovadora representa un canvi cap a <strong>m\u00e8todes de prova de f\u00e0rmacs m\u00e9s humans i precisos<\/strong>. Per intentar superar aquest obstacle, els m\u00e8todes tradicionals intenten aprofitar caracter\u00edstiques naturals dels vasos sanguinis per guiar els medicaments cap al cervell. Aquestes caracter\u00edstiques, per\u00f2, no s\u00f3n exclusives del cervell i tamb\u00e9 estan presents en altres \u00f2rgans com els pulmons i el fetge. Com a resultat, els medicaments sovint acaben en llocs on no es necessiten, cosa que redueix l\u2019efic\u00e0cia de les ter\u00e0pies i augmenta els efectes secundaris indesitjats. Aix\u00ed, molts problemes comuns, com la <strong>malaltia d\u2019Alzheimer<\/strong> i diversos tipus de <strong>c\u00e0ncers cerebrals<\/strong>, es podrien tractar de manera m\u00e9s efica\u00e7 si els medicaments es lliuressin espec\u00edficament al cervell, sense afectar la resta del cos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El projecte <strong>Brain-TAG<\/strong> introdueix una soluci\u00f3 totalment nova a aquest problema. En lloc de dependre de caracter\u00edstiques naturals, el grup de recerca ha desenvolupat un proc\u00e9s per crear \u201cpunts de parada\u201d especials nom\u00e9s en els vasos sanguinis del cervell. Aquests punts es generen mitjan\u00e7ant la injecci\u00f3 de prote\u00efnes que s\u2019expressen espec\u00edficament en els vasos sanguinis cerebrals. Aquest m\u00e8tode \u00e9s \u00fanic perqu\u00e8 no dep\u00e8n del que el cos ja t\u00e9, sin\u00f3 que crea nous llocs artificials on els medicaments es poden unir. En proves amb animals sans, els punts de parada Brain-TAG han ajudat a portar tractaments directament al cervell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Els principals objectius del projecte ara s\u00f3n confirmar que aquest m\u00e8tode funciona de manera efica\u00e7 en animals malalts i entendre exactament com aquestes prote\u00efnes es connecten als vasos sanguinis del cervell. Si t\u00e9 \u00e8xit, els medicaments es podrien enviar directament on es necessiten al cervell, fent els tractaments m\u00e9s efectius i segurs, amb menys problemes a la resta del cos. Aquest aven\u00e7 ofereix esperan\u00e7a per millorar l\u2019atenci\u00f3 de persones amb malalties cerebrals greus i pot canviar la manera com es tracten aquestes afeccions en el futur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sobre CaixaImpulse<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>La Fundaci\u00f3 &#8220;la Caixa&#8221; va posar en marxa aquest programa de suport a la innovaci\u00f3 i la transfer\u00e8ncia en biomedicina i salut el 2015. Des d&#8217;aleshores, l&#8217;entitat ha destinat 28,8 milions d&#8217;euros a donar suport a 263 projectes, els quals han derivat en la creaci\u00f3 de 54 empreses derivades (spin-offs), que al seu torn han aconseguit cofinan\u00e7ament addicional a trav\u00e9s d&#8217;altres convocat\u00f2ries competitives o d&#8217;inversors privats per valor de m\u00e9s de 180 milions d&#8217;euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La convocat\u00f2ria es duu a terme en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb <a href=\"http:\/\/www.criteriabioventures.com\/\">Criteria Bio Ventures<\/a><em>, <\/em>fons d&#8217;inversi\u00f3 de capital risc de CriteriaCaixa especialitzat en biotecnologia i ci\u00e8ncies de la salut.
