The position is funded through the THRIVE project, which aims to characterize the effects of both pathogenic and wild-type Tau protein in cortical organoids. By combining advanced stem cell-derived organoid models with state-of-the-art molecular, cellular, and functional analyses, the project seeks to elucidate how distinct Tau variants influence neuronal development, network maturation, and neurodegenerative processes. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative experimental and analytical platforms to investigate Tau-driven mechanisms of disease, ultimately advancing our understanding of neurodegeneration and identifying potential targets for future therapeutic interventions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main tasks and responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Culture, maintenance, and differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into cortical organoids following established protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Generate, maintain, and characterize 3D cortical organoid models for the study of neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Perform molecular and cellular characterization of organoids using techniques such as immunofluorescence, qPCR, Western blotting, and confocal microscopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Record and analyze neuronal activity using microelectrode array (MEA\/eMEA) platforms to evaluate network development, functional connectivity, and disease-associated electrophysiological alterations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Develop and optimize electrophysiological assays to assess the effects of pathogenic and wild-type Tau on neuronal network function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Process, organize, and analyze large-scale electrophysiological and imaging datasets using dedicated software and computational tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp; Support the implementation of high-content screening approaches for evaluating neurodegenerative phenotypes and potential therapeutic interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements for candidates:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essential:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Degree and Master on any field on Biomedicine or Biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High level of English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Advantageous:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience in stem cell culture, cortical organoids and multielectrode arrays techniques<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Matlab and Python programming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Competencies and Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We value not only technical expertise but also the demonstration of core competencies such as Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, and Critical and Analytical Thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We Offer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Number of available positions: 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting date: August 1th, 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working conditions:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>6 months full time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Measures to reconcile work and family life (flexible remuneration, parental leave, flexible schedule working hours, 23 working days of paid holidays, 9 leave days for personal matters, among others).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IBEC ensures equality of access to <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/career-in-bioengineering\">professional development opportunities<\/a> irrespective of employment status, length at IBEC or other factors.
