Es podr\u00e0 utilitzar en moltes aplicacions biom\u00e8diques, ja que la seva propulsi\u00f3 \u00e9s deguda a la reacci\u00f3 catal\u00edtica de tres enzims que es troben de forma natural el cos; la catalasa, la ureasa i la glucosa oxidasa. Les reaccions enzim\u00e0tiques donen energia a les nanopart\u00edcules Janus -part\u00edcules amb dues cares amb propietats f\u00edsiques diferents-, tenint lloc de forma asim\u00e8trica en nom\u00e9s una de les cares del nanomotor, la qual cosa provoca la propulsi\u00f3 en la direcci\u00f3 oposada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerqu\u00e8 el seu \u00fas sigui segur en aplicacions biom\u00e8diques a l\u2019interior de l\u2019organisme, les nanopart\u00edcules han de ser de materials biocompatibles i biodegradables, han de tenir la capacitat de moure\u2019s de forma aut\u00f2noma utilitzant combustibles d\u2019origen biol\u00f2gic i d\u2019alliberar la c\u00e0rrega en un punt determinat \u2013com seria el cas de l\u2019alliberament de f\u00e0rmacs\u2013 a la petita escala\u201d, diu Samuel S\u00e1nchez, qui dirigeix al que ha estat descrit com \u201cun dels grups capdavanters en el camp de la recerca en nanomotors\u201d, el grup de Dispositius Intel\u00b7ligents Nano-Bio de l\u2019IBEC i del MPI-IS de Stuttgart. \u201cHem aconseguit totes aquestes propietats amb els nostres nous nanomotors. Per a la seva arquitectura, hem utilitzat un material que ofereix una gran capacitat d\u2019alliberament de f\u00e0rmacs a causa de la seva estructura buida; i per a la propulsi\u00f3, hem basat els nostres m\u00e8todes en el recent descobriment que els enzims poden actuar com nanomotors autopropulsats, aix\u00ed com de ser ancorades a objectes artificials majors, com els nanotubs de carboni, per proporcionar una for\u00e7a de propulsi\u00f3 utilitzant reaccions catal\u00edtiques\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Aquest tipus de reaccions biocatal\u00edtiques desencadenades per enzims actuen a manera de propulsi\u00f3 no-t\u00f2xica perqu\u00e8 que estan presents en l\u2019ambient biol\u00f2gic i tenen un elevat potencial de reacci\u00f3.
