
{"id":22849,"date":"2016-05-17T07:44:45","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T07:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/?p=22849"},"modified":"2016-05-23T12:12:35","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T12:12:35","slug":"buscant-la-solucio-per-a-la-malaria-en-el-fons-mari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/ca\/buscant-la-solucio-per-a-la-malaria-en-el-fons-mari\/","title":{"rendered":"Buscant la soluci\u00f3 per a la mal\u00e0ria en el fons mar\u00ed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Des de fa temps se sap que algunes biomol\u00e8cules com l&#8217;heparina poden bloquejar l&#8217;adhesi\u00f3 i entrada dels merozo\u00efts als gl\u00f2buls vermells; no obstant aix\u00f2, l&#8217;heparina no \u00e9s un bon candidat terap\u00e8utic a causa que les quantitats necess\u00e0ries per al tractament de la mal\u00e0ria podrien provocar hemorr\u00e0gies internes.<\/p>\n<p>En un estudi publicat en la revista Scientifc Reports, els autors van explorar la capacitat antimal\u00e0rica de polisac\u00e0rids sulfatats semblats a l&#8217;heparina, derivats de cogombres de mar, algues vermelles i esponges marines, i van trobar que aquests compostos inhibeixen de manera significativa el creixement de P. falciparum, encara que es trobi a concentracions baixes a les quals aquestes mol\u00e8cules no tenen activitat anticoagulant. A m\u00e9s, la majoria dels compostos analitzats van augmentar la superviv\u00e8ncia de ratolins infectats amb una altra esp\u00e8cie de Plasmodium i, fins i tot en algun dels ratolins infectats, van observar l&#8217;aparici\u00f3 d&#8217;anticossos contra el par\u00e0sit, la qual cosa suggereix que el fet de retardar la invasi\u00f3 dels gl\u00f2buls vermells afavoreix la generaci\u00f3 d&#8217;una resposta immune contra el par\u00e0sit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Els organismes marins s\u00f3n una font rica en polisac\u00e0rids sulfatats similars a l&#8217;heparina&#8221;, diu Joana Marquis, investigadora de la unitat mixta IBEC\/ISGlobal i primera autora de l&#8217;article. &#8220;L&#8217;avantatge \u00e9s que aquestes mol\u00e8cules tenen activitats anticoagulants suficientment petites per ser utilitzades en la sang circulant a les seves concentracions actives sense inc\u00f3rrer en el risc d&#8217;hemorr\u00e0gia interna&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;En els experiments in vitro que hem fet amb tots aquests compostos es va demostrar una inhibici\u00f3 significativa del creixement del Plasmodium falciparum, fins i tot a baixes activitats anticoagulants, i els assajos preliminars in vivo en ratolins s\u00f3n prometedors&#8221;, diu Xavier Fern\u00e1ndez-Busquets, responsable de la unitat mixta IBEC\/ISGlobal. &#8220;Aquests compostos alenteixen la invasi\u00f3 dels gl\u00f2buls vermells per Plasmodium, i tal vegada la resultant exposici\u00f3 perllongada del par\u00e0sit als limf\u00f2cits circulants d\u00f3na al sistema immunitari una major oportunitat de construir defenses&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>El seu descobriment implica que les mol\u00e8cules relacionades amb l&#8217;heparina es poden considerar i explorar per al disseny de nous enfocaments terap\u00e8utics contra la mal\u00e0ria en els quals els polisac\u00e0rids amb baixa activitat anticoagulant podrien exercir un doble paper; com a f\u00e0rmacs inhibint el creixement del par\u00e0sit i, alhora, promovent la resposta immune contra el mateix.<\/p>\n<p>En aquest estudi tamb\u00e9 han participat l&#8217;Institut de Nanociencia i Nanotecnologia de Barcelona (IN2UB) i la Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Xavier Fern\u00e1ndez-Busquets donar\u00e0 un seminari, <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/ca\/event\/ibec-seminar-xavier-fernandez-busquets\/\">A Short (Hi)story of Malaria<\/a>, a l&#8217;IBEC el divendres 20 de maig a les 10:00h.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Article de refer\u00e8ncia:<\/strong><\/em> Joana Marques, Eduardo Vilanova, Paulo A.
