Com a prova de concepte, l\u2019equip investigador va introduir el f\u00e0rmac hidrosoluble pironaridina a la cavitat interna del liposoma, i el f\u00e0rmac liposoluble atovaquona a la membrana del mateix. A m\u00e9s, van envoltar el liposoma d\u2019un antic\u00f2s que reconeix una prote\u00efna expressada per gl\u00f2buls vermells (estiguin infectats o no) i gamet\u00f2cits (la fase sexual del par\u00e0sit responsable de la transmissi\u00f3 entre hostes). D\u2019aqu\u00ed el nom de immunoliposoma.<\/p>\n<p>Els resultats mostren que ambd\u00f3s f\u00e0rmacs, quan son encapsulats, van ser capa\u00e7os\u00a0<strong>d\u2019inhibir el creixement del par\u00e0sit<\/strong>\u00a0<em>in vitro<\/em>\u00a0a concentracions que no tenien cap efecte quan eren lliures. Gr\u00e0cies als anticossos, els immunoliposomes\u00a0<strong>van unir-se r\u00e0pidament a la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula diana i van administrar el f\u00e0rmac\u00a0<\/strong>de manera molt eficient.<\/p>\n<p>Els autors assenyalen que aquesta estrat\u00e8gia podria aplicar-se en un futur proper a casos de mal\u00e0ria greu que ingressin a l\u2019hospital, on l\u2019administraci\u00f3 intravenosa del liposoma \u00e9s factible. El repte ser\u00e0 desenvolupar nanovectors d\u2019administraci\u00f3 oral per tractar la mal\u00e0ria no greu, una l\u00ednia de treball que el mateix grup de recerca est\u00e0 tamb\u00e9 explorant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEls tractaments actuals actuen majorit\u00e0riament sobre les fases asexuals del par\u00e0sit.
