Aquests artefactes poden usar-se per fer arribar medicaments a parts espec\u00edfiques del cos. Normalment els nanomotors fan servir biomol\u00e8cules per propulsar-se. No obstant, aquestes mol\u00e8cules es degraden al entrar en contacte amb el cos del pacient. \u00c9s per aix\u00f2 que l&#8217;\u00fas de part\u00edcules motoritzades, biocompatibles i biodegradables que transporten medicaments a el teixit malalt \u00e9s actualment una \u00e0rea de recerca emergent en el camp de la biomedicina.<\/p>\n<p>Investigadors de l<em>&#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tue.nl\/en\/research\/institutes\/institute-for-complex-molecular-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute for Complex Molecular Systems<\/a><\/em> (ICMS) de la <em>Eindhoven University of Technology<\/em> (TU\/e), juntament amb investigadors de la <em>Soochow University, Swansea University<\/em>, i l&#8217;Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC) han desenvolupat una nova manera de sintetitzar nanomotors biodegradables. Aquesta via emmagatzema al nanomotor nanopart\u00edcules inorg\u00e0niques capaces de promoure en la propulsi\u00f3. L&#8217;estudi ha estat publicat a la revista <em>Nano Letters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3>Un innovador nanomotor<\/h3>\n<p>Aquest innovador dispositiu h\u00edbrid est\u00e0 format per una estructura anomenada estomatocit, tamb\u00e9 coneguda com poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(D,L-lactide) (PEG\u2212PDLLA), amb un motor que es carrega amb di\u00f2xid de mangan\u00e8s. Els estomatocits s\u00f3n c\u00e8l\u00b7lules en forma de bol amb una cavitat interna buida amb una petita obertura a l&#8217;exterior. Estudis previs han demostrat com aquestes part\u00edcules s\u00f3n capaces de confinar i protegir el motor o combustible dins de la cavitat i, posteriorment, catalitzar permetent el seu moviment a trav\u00e9s d&#8217;entorns biol\u00f2gics complexos. Com a prova de concepte, els investigadors han aconseguit fer penetrar dels nanomotors h\u00edbrids en tumors, garantint aix\u00ed la seva funcionalitat en contextos biol\u00f2gics i evidenciant el seu potencial en aplicacions biom\u00e8diques.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Un propulsor sintetitzat dins el nanomotor<\/h3>\n<p>L&#8217;enfocament innovador d&#8217;aquest treball consisteix en que la propulsi\u00f3 a partir de di\u00f2xid de mangan\u00e8s es genera en el mateix nanomotor. Quan aquest compost inorg\u00e0nic reacciona amb el per\u00f2xid d&#8217;hidrogen, genera &#8220;nanobombolles&#8221; d&#8217;oxigen que al ser expulsades per la petita obertura de l&#8217;estomatocit impulsen l&#8217;estructura en la direcci\u00f3 oposada. El per\u00f2xid d&#8217;hidrogen, un compost t\u00f2xic per a les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules, \u00e9s com\u00fa en microambients tumorals. A m\u00e9s, els estomatocitos poden ser reutilitzats sempre que el combustible emmagatzemat en la cavitat es mantingui funcional. En cas de no estar en funcionament, el combustible no es &#8220;s&#8217;escapa&#8221; a trav\u00e9s de l&#8217;obertura, almenys durant tres mesos.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;estructura h\u00edbrida descrita a l&#8217;estudi \u00e9s totalment biocompatible i biodegradable, gr\u00e0cies al seu exterior org\u00e0nic. A m\u00e9s, els nanomotors es podrien fer servir com a plataformes multimodals i les seves part\u00edcules tenen potencial per ser controlades de forma remota mitjan\u00e7ant senyals externs (camps magn\u00e8tics o llum, per exemple). En altres paraules, aquests nous compostos h\u00edbrids combinen les millors caracter\u00edstiques de les nano-estructures inorg\u00e0niques i de les org\u00e0niques. Aquest estudi obre nous camins en la recerca de nanomotors aut\u00f2noms aix\u00ed com en les seves nombroses aplicacions en biomedicina.<\/p>\n<h3>Col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 ICMS-IBEC<\/h3>\n<p>Al 2018, l<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibecbarcelona.eu\/ca\/libec-i-el-tu-e-sembren-la-llavor-duna-associacio-prometedora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8216;IBEC i el ICMS van sembrar la llavor<\/a> del que fins ara ha estat una alian\u00e7a molt prometedora. Aquest 2020, ambdues institucions ahn signat un nou <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibecbarcelona.eu\/ca\/libec-signa-un-nou-acord-amb-el-icms-de-la-universitat-tecnica-deindhoven\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">acord de col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3<\/a>. Actualment, dos l\u00edders de grup de l&#8217;IBEC, Vito Conte i Lorenzo Albertazzi, compten amb una segona afiliaci\u00f3 a l\u2019ICMS.
