Dels 45 investigadors seleccionats, 3 pertanyen a l&#8217;Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC). Es va doctorar en biologia el 2016 a la TU Dresden despr\u00e9s de fer un treball pioner sobre\u00a0microrobots\u00a0bioh\u00edbrids\u00a0a l&#8217;Institut de\u00a0Nanoci\u00e8ncies\u00a0Integratives de l&#8217;Institut Leibniz de Recerca de l&#8217;Estat S\u00f2lid i els Materials de Dresden (IFW). Del 2017 al 2020, va dur a terme estudis metab\u00f2lics i cin\u00e8tics en espermatozoides de diverses esp\u00e8cies com a investigaci\u00f3 de\u00a0postdoctorat\u00a0de tema obert a la c\u00e0tedra de zoologia aplicada de la TU Dresden, a m\u00e9s de continuar la seva investigaci\u00f3 sobre els\u00a0microrobots\u00a0h\u00edbrids d&#8217;esperma. El 2020, va rebre una beca\u00a0Feodor-Lynen\u00a0de la Fundaci\u00f3 Alexander von\u00a0Humboldt\u00a0per unir-se al grup de Nano\u00a0Biodispositius\u00a0intel\u00b7ligents de l&#8217;IBEC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-right is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>M&#8217;inspirar\u00e9 en la natura per crear\u00a0microrobots\u00a0que s&#8217;impulsin gr\u00e0cies a camps magn\u00e8tics.<strong> \u00a0<\/strong><\/p><cite><em>Veronika\u00a0Magdanz\u00a0<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>La creaci\u00f3 i el control de\u00a0microrobots\u00a0intel\u00b7ligents i aut\u00f2noms \u00e9s un dels fascinants objectius de la seva investigaci\u00f3 actual. Sovint aquest camp de la\u00a0microrob\u00f2tica\u00a0s&#8217;inspira en la natura. En el projecte Junior\u00a0Leader\u00a0de la Fundaci\u00f3 \u201dla Caixa\u201d,\u00a0Veronika\u00a0Magdanz\u00a0investigar\u00e0 el comportament cooperatiu dels espermatozoides, que els ajuda a nedar de manera m\u00e9s r\u00e0pida i efica\u00e7 formant grups que en fer-ho com a c\u00e8l\u00b7lules individuals. A m\u00e9s, aplicar\u00e0 aquests coneixements al disseny de nedadors flagel\u00b7lats que siguin flexibles i multifuncionals i s&#8217;impulsin mitjan\u00e7ant l&#8217;efecte de camps magn\u00e8tics oscil\u00b7lants. Per \u00faltim, explorar\u00e0\u00a0les aplicacions biom\u00e8diques d&#8217;aquests robots flexibles per a l&#8217;administraci\u00f3 de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules, f\u00e0rmacs i teixits. Va rebre una prestigiosa beca de doctorat del govern indi. Va\u202fdur a terme\u202fel doctorat amb el\u202fProf.\u202fSubi\u202fGeorge al Centre de Recerca Cient\u00edfica Avan\u00e7ada\u202fJawaharlal\u202fNehru\u202fi va\u00a0rebre el premi a la millor tesi doctoral (equivalent a\u00a0cum\u00a0laude) el 2014. El 2015, es va traslladar a la City\u202fUniversity\u202fde Nova York (Estats Units) per\u202fdur a terme\u202fun\u202fpostdoctorat\u202famb el\u202fProf.\u202fRein\u202fUlijn. Tamb\u00e9 va rebre una beca de recerca de\u202fla US-Israel\u202fBinational\u202fScience\u202fFoundation. \u00c9s autor de 22 publicacions i posseeix una patent nord-americana (>1000 cites, \u00edndex h de 14). \u00c9s autor principal de diversos articles publicats en revistes com<em>\u202fNature\u202fChemistry<\/em>\u202fi\u202f<em>Nature\u202fCommunications<\/em>,\u202fincloent-hi\u202ftres articles com a autor per a correspond\u00e8ncia. Ha impartit confer\u00e8ncies a congressos internacionals i ha estat mentor d&#8217;alumnes de m\u00e0ster i doctorat. En resum, \u00e9s un qu\u00edmic consumat i amb experi\u00e8ncia internacional que ha creat un n\u00ednxol cient\u00edfic per abordar reptes socials en mat\u00e8ria de salut i energia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-right is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Dissenyar\u00e9 un material org\u00e0nic capa\u00e7 d&#8217;adaptar-se que ens ajudi a administrar f\u00e0rmacs de forma m\u00e9s eficient.<\/p><p><\/p><cite><em>Mohit\u00a0Kumar<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Els sistemes vius s\u00f3n molt din\u00e0mics i les seves estructures\u00a0autoacoblades\u00a0es formen i es descomponen constantment a trav\u00e9s del consum\u202fd&#8217;energia\u202fqu\u00edmica. Aix\u00f2\u00a0d\u00f3na\u00a0lloc a funcions \u00faniques com\u202fl&#8217;adaptaci\u00f3\u202fi la motilitat, entre altres. El funcionament biol\u00f2gic \u00e9s clarament diferent del de la majoria dels materials sint\u00e8tics, que no tenen la capacitat de canviar per adaptar-s&#8217;hi. Aix\u00f2 crea un desajust entre els sistemes vius i els materials sint\u00e8tics, per la qual cosa resulta dif\u00edcil desenvolupar\u202fbiointerf\u00edcies\u202fsint\u00e8tiques per a la\u00a0nanomedicina. Aquesta proposta incorporar\u00e0 els principis de funcionament de la natura al disseny de materials de fabricaci\u00f3 humana per adquirir funcions d&#8217;adaptabilitat i\u00a0reconfiguraci\u00f3. En el seu projecte, el Dr.\u202fKumar\u202fdissenyar\u00e0 un material org\u00e0nic capa\u00e7 d&#8217;adaptar-se mitjan\u00e7ant un proc\u00e9s continu de formaci\u00f3\/degradaci\u00f3 i el consum d&#8217;energia qu\u00edmica. D&#8217;aquesta manera, es crearan 1) ves\u00edcules lip\u00eddiques com a interf\u00edcie cel\u00b7lular adaptable per a l&#8217;administraci\u00f3 dirigida de f\u00e0rmacs a les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses, i 2) un dispositiu reconfigurable per a la detecci\u00f3 i el diagn\u00f2stic\u202fmultianalit\u202fsota demanda. Aix\u00ed doncs,\u202ffar\u00e9\u202fun material amb funcions similars a les de la vida per a la propera generaci\u00f3 de\u202fnanof\u00e0rmacs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Iris\u00a0Batalha:\u00a0Nanobi\u00f2tics\u00a0multivalents i\u00a0superselectius\u00a0contra la tuberculosi\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:27% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Iris_Batalha-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-90034 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Va n\u00e9ixer a\u00a0\u00c9vora\u00a0(Portugal) el 1984. \u00c9s graduada en qu\u00edmica aplicada i t\u00e9 un m\u00e0ster en biotecnologia per la Facultat de Ci\u00e8ncies i Tecnologia de la Universitat Nova de Lisboa (FCT\u202fNOVA), aix\u00ed com un doctorat en sistemes de bioenginyeria pel Programa MIT -Portugal. Del 2014 al 2017, va ser investigadora\u00a0postdoctoral\u00a0al Departament d&#8217;Enginyeria Qu\u00edmica i Biotecnologia de la Universitat de\u00a0Cambridge\u202fi a\u202fl&#8217;empresa\u00a0biofarmac\u00e8utica\u202fMedImmune\/Astrazeneca. Del 2017 al 2020, va ser investigadora associada en un projecte de recerca conjunt entre el Centre de\u00a0Nanoci\u00e8ncia\u00a0del Departament d&#8217;Enginyeria i la Unitat d&#8217;Immunitat Molecular del Departament de Medicina de la Universitat de\u00a0Cambridge. Actualment, \u00e9s directora d&#8217;un curs de\u202fnanoter\u00e0pies\u202fa l&#8217;Institut d&#8217;Educaci\u00f3 Cont\u00ednua de la Universitat de\u00a0Cambridge, consultora s\u00e8nior freelance en estrat\u00e8gies d&#8217;innovaci\u00f3 a\u202fInspiralia\u202f(Espanya i els Estats Units), cofundadora, directora i redactora en cap de l&#8217;organitzaci\u00f3 sense \u00e0nim de lucre\u202fWomen\u202fAhead\u202fof\u202fTheir\u202fTime\u202f(WATT), i membre del\u202fPeterhouse\u202fCollege,\u00a0Cambridge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-right is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>La meva ambici\u00f3 \u00e9s descobrir nous mecanismes moleculars d&#8217;infecci\u00f3 bacteriana i el desenvolupament de resist\u00e8ncia als medicaments, i crear nanopart\u00edcules terap\u00e8utiques\u00a0bioinspirades\u00a0i dirigides espec\u00edficament a les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules humanes infectade<strong>.<\/strong><\/p><p><\/p><cite><em>Iris\u00a0Batalha<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Cada minut moren tres persones per infecci\u00f3 de <em>M. tuberculosis<\/em>. Els tractaments actuals requereixen l&#8217;administraci\u00f3 d&#8217;altes concentracions d&#8217;un c\u00f2ctel d&#8217;antibi\u00f2tics, i nom\u00e9s una petita quantitat arriba al lloc de destinaci\u00f3 al cos. Aix\u00f2 provoca una s\u00e8rie d&#8217;efectes adversos als pacients, que deixen de prendre la medicaci\u00f3 a meitat del tractament i, en \u00faltima inst\u00e0ncia, condueix al desenvolupament de resist\u00e8ncies als antibi\u00f2tics. La meva feina se centra en el desenvolupament de\u00a0nanof\u00e0rmacs\u00a0constitu\u00efts per conjugats d&#8217;antibi\u00f2tics i pol\u00edmers per a l&#8217;administraci\u00f3 dirigida de f\u00e0rmacs espec\u00edficament als llocs d&#8217;infecci\u00f3. El meu objectiu \u00e9s actuar directament a les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules humanes infectades mitjan\u00e7ant el disseny de lligands pept\u00eddics a trav\u00e9s de la t\u00e8cnica de presentaci\u00f3 en\u00a0fags\u00a0(<em>Phage\u00a0display<\/em>). Aquests lligands reconeixen i s&#8217;uneixen selectivament a receptors de la superf\u00edcie de les \u201cc\u00e8l\u00b7lules hoste\u201d que presenten notables alteracions durant la infecci\u00f3. En concret, pretenc actuar sobre el sistema de presentaci\u00f3 d&#8217;ant\u00edgens relacionat amb el complex major d&#8217;histocompatibilitat de classe I (MR1 o MHC1-related), el qual est\u00e0\u00a0altament conservat entre esp\u00e8cies. L&#8217;MR1 resideix a l&#8217;interior de la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula humana hoste i \u00e9s transportat a la superf\u00edcie quan s&#8217;uneix a metab\u00f2lits bacterians que es troben dins de la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula humana, de manera que funciona com un interruptor molecular i realitza un mostreig de l&#8217;entorn intracel\u00b7lular de l&#8217;hoste infectat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>Sobre el programa de\u00a0postdoctorat\u00a0Junior\u00a0Leader<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cofinan\u00e7at per la Comissi\u00f3 Europea a trav\u00e9s de l&#8217;Acci\u00f3\u202fMarie\u202fSk\u0142odowska-Curie\u202fCOFUND\u202fen el marc d&#8217;Horitz\u00f3 2020, aquest programa est\u00e0 destinat a la contractaci\u00f3 d&#8217;investigadors excel\u00b7lents de qualsevol nacionalitat que vulguin continuar la seva carrera investigadora en territori espanyol o portugu\u00e8s a les \u00e0rees de les ci\u00e8ncies de la salut i de la vida, la tecnologia, la f\u00edsica,\u202fl&#8217;enginyeria\u202fi les matem\u00e0tiques.<br>A aquesta convocat\u00f2ria s&#8217;hi han presentat m\u00e9s de 700 persones per optar a una de les beques.
