A celebration of three decades of cell biophysics research in Barcelona<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Barcelona area is currently recognized as an important hub for the scientific\u00a0<\/span>field of mechanobiology, and of cell biophysics in general<\/span><\/strong>. This\u00a0<\/span>achievement is due to the work over decades of local scientists. Among them, Prof. Daniel\u00a0<\/span>Navajas<\/span>\u00a0st<\/span>ands out as a pioneer in the\u00a0<\/span>field, before<\/span>\u00a0it was even called mechanobiology. His work\u00a0<\/span>led to<\/span>\u00a0important scientific ach<\/span>ievements<\/span>\u00a0in cell mechanics<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>erhaps even more<\/span>\u00a0importantly, his\u00a0<\/span>dedicated\u00a0<\/span>mentorship<\/span>\u00a0produced a new generation of scientists who have\u00a0<\/span>established<\/span>\u00a0their o<\/span>wn labs and are\u00a0<\/span>currently\u00a0<\/span>expanding mechanobiology in new directions.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the occasion of<\/span>\u00a0Prof.\u00a0<\/span>Navajas\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0retirement, we take the opportunity to celebrate\u00a0<\/span>Mechanobiology<\/span>\u00a0and cell biophysics<\/span>, with a symposium combining talks from former trainees and invited speakers.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The symposium will\u00a0<\/span>honor<\/span>\u00a0an exciting trajectory\u00a0<\/span>along<\/span>\u00a0three decades, but will be focused on current,\u00a0<\/span>ongoing research<\/span>. As such, it will be of interest to anyone interested in mechanobiology, with or without a relationship to the work of Prof.\u00a0<\/span>Navajas<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
