DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, 23rd June IBEC\, in collaboration with IRB\, will celebrate another edition of Kids’ Day\, when staff and researchers from the two institutes are invited to bring their children for a morning of science activities. \nKids’ Day is an opportunity for IBEC members to show their children their workplace\, and gives them the chance to be a ‘little scientist’ for a day. \nWho can participate?
\nTo make sure that we have a manageable and safe number of kids in the lab\, we have limited the number of participants to 60. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis and priority will be given to the children of IBEC scientists and staff\, and then extended to nieces and nephews until all spaces are filled. \nThe activities will be targeted to children between 3 and 12 years old\, with the kids sorted into activity groups based on their ages. It’s recommended that kids be at least in P3 to assure that they will enjoy the whole event. \nAll 3-year-old kids need to be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. The other small children (4-5 years) can be accompanied by a parent only if they consider it necessary. Due to space restrictions\, parents of older children do not need to be present during the activities. Volunteers will look after the kids at all times. The Youth Mobile Festival
DESCRIPTION:IBEC at the Mobile World Congress\nIBEC will take part in the Youth Mobile Festival (YOMO) of the Mobile World Congress\, the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry\, at the end of February with an interactive stand about bioengineering for cardiac regeneration. \nWith the aid of a 3D pen\, attendees will be able to replicate one of the techniques that are used for research in this area. The activity will reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of these types of therapies\, and visitors will also have the opportunity to examine some tissue samples made with IBEC’s 3D bioprinter using a microscope. \nYOMO\, with 1200 hours of live theatre shows\, interactive workshops\, and dozens of hands-on activities\, is expected to attract up to 20\,000 10-16 year olds from across Catalonia and Spain.

DESCRIPTION:De la interpretació del passat al disseny del futur\nActivitat per a escoles a CosmoCaixa Barcelona\nLes Jornades sobre l’Ensenyament de la Biologia i la Geologia a Secundària\, organitzades conjuntament pel Col·legi Oficial de Doctors i Llicenciats en Filosofia i Lletres i en Ciències de Catalunya\, CosmoCaixa Barcelona i el Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya\, aspiren a constituir un punt de trobada per debatre els reptes actuals que planteja la docència d’aquestes disciplines.\nLa millor ciència és aquella que afronta els enigmes des de tots els fronts possibles\, amb totes les eines disponibles. La ciència és necessàriament transversal\, ja que el món és únic\, som els humans els que ho compartimentem per tal que sigui més fàcil abastar-lo. \nEls grans problemes del segle XXI són complexos i\, per tant\, requereixen de la col·laboració de diferents disciplines . Els equips d’investigadors actuals són interdisciplinaris; treballen costat a costat biòlegs\, físics\, químics\, estadístics\, geòlegs\, enginyers … ja que els nous coneixements estan ara en les fronteres entre especialitats. Però\, què passa en els centres d’ensenyament? Som capaços de fer visible la importància de la transversalitat de la ciència? \nA partir d’una àmplia i diversa oferta de tallers i conferències\, aquestes jornades pretenen contribuir a:\n– Analitzar i resoldre problemes utilitzant de forma integrada models científics de diferents disciplines així com aspectes tecnològics.\n– Identificar la necessitat d’aprofundir en la coordinació entre el professorat de secundària de diferents disciplines\n– Reflexionar sobre la importància de proporcionar a l’alumnat una visió més integrada i funcional del coneixement científic per al seu desenvolupament competencial
