DESCRIPTION:Metabolic Phenotypes to Molecular Imaging: New MRI Technologies for Precision Medicine\nPrecision metabolic phenotyping has the potential to transform biomedical research and medicine by enabling early disease detection\, real-time monitoring of treatment response\, and personalized medicine. However\, comprehensive metabolic characterization remains challenging because it often requires multiple imaging modalities and complex\, time-consuming protocols.\nIn this talk\, I will present novel MRI technologies aimed at making metabolic imaging faster\, more comprehensive\, and accessible. I will first introduce efficient acquisition and reconstruction methods for simultaneous anatomical and metabolic imaging. I will then discuss hyperpolarized molecular probes and imaging strategies for real-time visualization of metabolism. Finally\, I will present the development of low-field MRI platforms for portable\, low-cost multinuclear and molecular imaging. Together\, these approaches seek to bridge MR physics\, molecular engineering\, bioengineering\, and translational imaging\, establishing MRI as a versatile platform for quantitative metabolic phenotyping. \nBio sketch\nDr. Gonzalo Gabriel Rodriguez is a physicist specialized in multinuclear magnetic resonance and advanced biomedical imaging. He is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences\, following research experience at NYU School of Medicine and the National University of Córdoba\, Argentina. His research spans quantitative MRI\, hyperpolarization\, and low-field MRI\, with a particular focus on translating fundamental MR physics into innovative tools for biomedical research and clinical applications. He is an ISMRM Junior Fellow and a recipient of the Paul Callaghan Young Investigator Award

DESCRIPTION:This year IBEC Annual Symposium marks the 20th anniversary of IBEC\, celebrating two decades of interdisciplinary research\, scientific exchange\, and collaboration in bioengineering. \nThe IBEC Symposium brings together international experts and provides an open forum for discussion and networking across the diverse research areas developed at the Institute. This special edition highlights the maturity of IBEC research and its growing impact on science and society. \nThe Symposium is open to the entire scientific community. Researchers from IBEC and external institutions are invited to participate and present their work. \nThis year’s edition will take place over two days: \n\n22 October: Scientific sessions and talks at the World Trade Center Barcelona\n23 October: A full morning dedicated to poster sessions at Sant Pau Recinte Modernista\n\nAll IBEC research groups will briefly present their work through a short flash presentation.
