The programme offers postdocs the prospect to develop their scientific careers, as well as access to opportunities to acquire valuable non-research skills, in an exciting multidisciplinary research environment.<\/p>\n<h5>Areas of interest<\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Science and Technology of Health<\/li>\n<li>Precision Medicine \/ Healthy Aging \/ Infectious Diseases<\/li>\n<li>Energy and Environmental Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Nano- and Bioengineering for Pollution Remediation \/ Clean Energy \/ Sustainable Production<\/li>\n<li>Quantum Physics and Its Technological Applications<\/li>\n<li>Graphene and other 2D Materials \/ Quantum Methods in Biology \/ Sensing, Imaging and Spectroscopy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other areas of interest may be entertained, if they are relevant to one or more BIST centres. Also, research proposals potentially involving two or more BIST centres are encouraged but not a requisite.<\/p>\n<h5>Attractive multidisciplinary environment<\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>BIST is a multidisciplinary research institution that brings together seven Catalan research centres of excellence: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crg.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centre for Genomic Regulation<\/a>\u00a0(CRG),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia<\/a>\u00a0(IBEC),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icfo.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute of Photonic Sciences<\/a>\u00a0(ICFO),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iciq.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia<\/a>\u00a0(ICIQ),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/icn2.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Catalan Institute of Nanosciences and Nanotechnology<\/a>\u00a0(ICN2),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifae.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute for High Energy Physics<\/a>\u00a0(IFAE), and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irbbarcelona.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute for Research in Biomedicine<\/a>\u00a0(IRB Barcelona).<\/p>\n<p>BIST-FBA Fellows will have full access to facilities, seminars and training programmes of the BIST centres. Networking activities shall facilitate inter-centre and inter-disciplinary exchanges and collaboration. Among other topics, Fellows may receive training in leadership, entrepreneurial skills and technology transfer issues, such as industrial and intellectual property, industrial collaborations, spin-off development, and other related subjects. Also, BIST offers a \u201cScience to Business\u201d course wit to raise awareness of business opportunities and also accelerate the transfer to the market of technologies developed at BIST centres.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>call for applications is international and open to PhD holders from various scientific backgrounds<\/strong>.
