The candidate will work on a joint project co-led by Prof. Pere Roca-Cusachs at IBEC, and Prof. Marc G\u00fcell, <a href=\"https:\/\/synbio.upf.edu\/\">Translational Synthetic Biology<\/a> lab at UPF. The goal of the project will be to engineer a synthetic system of mechanosensitive gene editing. Cells and tissues are known to respond to mechanical signals from their environment such as tissue rigidity, in a way that regulates major processes in health and disease. In this context, developing a system able to edit the genome with mechanical specificity will open currently unexplored areas for biomedical applications.
