Se trata de la mol\u00e9cula miR-519a-3p, un microARN que est\u00e1 directamente relacionado con la expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna pri\u00f3nica celular (PrP<sup>C<\/sup>), la cual se encuentra desregulada en personas que sufren algunas enfermedades neurodegenerativas como el alzh\u00e9imer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La b\u00fasqueda de biomarcadores que sean estables y f\u00e1cilmente detectables en biofluidos, como los microARN, brinda esperanzas para la detecci\u00f3n temprana del alzh\u00e9imer en sus etapas asintom\u00e1ticas iniciales, lo que podr\u00eda ayudar en el diagn\u00f3stico y tratamiento temprano de esta enfermedad que afecta a m\u00e1s de 35 millones de personas en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Primera vez que se relacionan miR-519a-3p y PrP<sup>C<\/sup> en alzh\u00e9imer<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Se sabe que la expresi\u00f3n de algunos microARN est\u00e1 desregulada en pacientes con alzh\u00e9imer. Sin embargo, es la primera vez que este microARN se ha relacionado espec\u00edficamente con la disminuci\u00f3n en la producci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna pri\u00f3nica celular<sup> <\/sup>durante la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cActualmente, las pruebas para diagnosticar la enfermedad de Alzheimer suelen llevarse a cabo despu\u00e9s de la aparici\u00f3n de los primeros s\u00edntomas, cuando ya hay un deterioro cognitivo subyacente. Creemos que la detecci\u00f3n de este microARN puede ayudar a establecer criterios adicionales para un diagn\u00f3stico m\u00e1s preciso en las fases iniciales de la enfermedad\u201d,\u00a0explica Jos\u00e9 Antonio del R\u00edo, investigador principal del IBEC, catedr\u00e1tico de la Facultad de Biolog\u00eda y del Instituto de Neurociencias (UBneuro) de la Universidad de Barcelona y col\u00edder del estudio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Creemos que la detecci\u00f3n de este microARN puede ayudar a establecer criterios adicionales para un diagn\u00f3stico m\u00e1s preciso en las fases iniciales de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n<cite>Jos\u00e9 Antonio del R\u00edo<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, el trabajo analiza de forma comparativa le presencia del biomarcador en muestras de otras enfermedades neurodegenerativas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abSi nuestro objetivo es utilizar miR-519a-3p como biomarcador para detectar demencia de tipo alzh\u00e9imer en personas hipot\u00e9ticamente sanas, es clave asegurarse de que sus niveles no est\u00e9n alterados en otras enfermedades neurodegenerativas. Aunque no se conoce en detalle el mecanismo responsable de estos cambios, se ha observado que ciertos microARN se unen a una regi\u00f3n espec\u00edfica del gen <em>PRNP<\/em>, que controla la expresi\u00f3n de PrP<sup>C<\/sup>, disminuy\u00e9ndola.
