Tambi\u00e9n poseen un alto grado de control motor fino, pueden agarrar incluso objetos delicados y son capaces de autorrepararse en caso de lesiones leves. Un factor clave en la transmisi\u00f3n precisa y eficaz de la fuerza es el papel de los tendones, que conectan los m\u00fasculos con los huesos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para transferir estas propiedades a la rob\u00f3tica, los cient\u00edficos est\u00e1n investigando soluciones bioh\u00edbridas. Estas combinan materiales sint\u00e9ticos y biol\u00f3gicos para replicar la estructura y la funci\u00f3n del tejido biol\u00f3gico y el movimiento de los organismos vivos. En el futuro, los robots bioh\u00edbridos podr\u00edan mejorar la interacci\u00f3n entre humanos y m\u00e1quinas en campos como la asistencia sanitaria, la medicina y la rob\u00f3tica asistencial. Este enfoque tambi\u00e9n podr\u00eda impulsar el desarrollo de implantes bioh\u00edbridos para humanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n interdisciplinario dirigido por el Laboratorio de Rob\u00f3tica Blanda de la ETH de Z\u00farich, con la colaboraci\u00f3n de investigadores del grupo de Dispositivos Nano-Bio Inteligentes del Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a (IBEC), dirigido por Samuel S\u00e1nchez, y la Universidad de Barcelona, ha logrado crear una novedosa interfaz m\u00fasculo-hueso. El resultado es un modelo totalmente funcional hecho de tejido biol\u00f3gico vivo que reproduce la estructura de los tendones y su transici\u00f3n al m\u00fasculo \u2014la llamada uni\u00f3n miotendinosa\u2014 y que, al mismo tiempo, permite una mejor integraci\u00f3n con los sistemas t\u00e9cnicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abNuestra soluci\u00f3n se basa en un actuador bioimpreso en 3D que imita estructural y funcionalmente la conexi\u00f3n natural entre el m\u00fasculo y el hueso\u00bb, explica Miriam Filippi, autora principal del art\u00edculo cient\u00edfico e investigadora del Laboratorio de Rob\u00f3tica Blanda, dirigido por el profesor Robert Katzschmann. El m\u00fasculo y el tend\u00f3n se crearon a partir de tejido celular biol\u00f3gico y se conectaron a un hueso fabricado con material sint\u00e9tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abEste estudio representa un gran avance en el desarrollo de unidades funcionales de m\u00fasculo-tend\u00f3n, sentando las bases para sistemas bioh\u00edbridos que unen la biolog\u00eda y la rob\u00f3tica\u00bb, explica Katzschmann. \u00abEstamos dando el siguiente gran paso hacia los robots musculoesquel\u00e9ticos investigando c\u00f3mo integrar m\u00fasculos y tendones reales en unidades funcionales\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La biolog\u00eda como modelo<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>El mayor reto era que, en la interfaz entre los materiales biol\u00f3gicos y sint\u00e9ticos, las fuerzas a menudo se transmiten mal, lo que provoca p\u00e9rdidas de energ\u00eda. Para resolver este problema, el equipo se fij\u00f3 en la estructura natural del sistema musculoesquel\u00e9tico, donde los tendones act\u00faan como intermediarios entre los m\u00fasculos y los huesos. \u00abDesarrollamos un tend\u00f3n a partir de tejido celular impreso, con un nivel de rigidez entre el del m\u00fasculo vivo y el de un segmento r\u00edgido que imita al hueso. Se utiliz\u00f3 un an\u00e1lisis asistido por ordenador para optimizar la forma y la estructura del actuador. En las pruebas de aplicaci\u00f3n iniciales, los actuadores bioimpresos en 3D demostraron una capacidad de contracci\u00f3n fiable y estable a largo plazo, lo que supone un avance clave para el uso de componentes bioh\u00edbridos en sistemas rob\u00f3ticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Aplicaciones en medicina<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abEl trabajo demuestra c\u00f3mo se puede aprovechar el tejido biol\u00f3gico dise\u00f1ado para reproducir la mec\u00e1nica de los sistemas musculoesquel\u00e9ticos naturales, lo que supone un avance tanto en la investigaci\u00f3n fundamental como en las aplicaciones en los campos de la rob\u00f3tica blanda, la tecnolog\u00eda bioinspirada y la medicina regenerativa\u00bb, afirma Katzschmann. Una posible aplicaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica es el modelado biomec\u00e1nico del o\u00eddo medio, concretamente la interacci\u00f3n entre el estribo (un peque\u00f1o hueso) y el m\u00fasculo estapedio (Musculus stapedius).
