La plataforma de coraz\u00f3n en un chip incluye sensores que rastrean el da\u00f1o y la fibrosis en tiempo real, ayud\u00e1ndonos a encontrar y probar tratamientos prometedores.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Juan Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Este proyecto, en el que DPPE ha invertido 247.000 euros, desarrollar\u00e1 una plataforma de <strong>\u2018coraz\u00f3n en un chip&#8217;<\/strong> (heart-on-a-chip). <em>\u201cGracias a este avance, ahorraremos un tiempo vital al reducir el n\u00famero de animales y nos permitir\u00e1 reproducir en laboratorio tejido card\u00edaco humano afectado por la enfermedad, monitorizar la fibrosis (tejido cicatricial) en tiempo real y probar candidatos\u00bb<\/em>, explica la <strong>Dra. Marisol Montolio<\/strong>, directora del Departamento de Investigaci\u00f3n de Duchenne Parent Project Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La falta de distrofina, prote\u00edna ausente o defectuosa en estas enfermedades, no solo afecta al m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico. Tambi\u00e9n compromete el m\u00fasculo card\u00edaco, favoreciendo la aparici\u00f3n de fibrosis, un proceso por el que el tejido sano es sustituido por tejido cicatricial, lo que debilita progresivamente la funci\u00f3n del coraz\u00f3n. Esto provoca la muerte celular y su reemplazo por tejido fibr\u00f3tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El proyecto ser\u00e1 liderado desde el <strong>Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a (IBEC)<\/strong> por el <strong>Dr.<\/strong> <strong>Juan Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, investigador senior del <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/biosensors\/\">grupo de Biosensores para Bioingenier\u00eda<\/a> en el IBEC e investigador principal de BEAT. Adem\u00e1s, contar\u00e1 con la colaboraci\u00f3n del Registro de Pacientes de Duchenne Parent Project Espa\u00f1a, la Universidad de Ja\u00e9n, el Hospital Sant Joan de D\u00e9u y la Universidad de Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cEstudiaremos la patolog\u00eda card\u00edaca en ratones y pacientes para construir un modelo card\u00edaco 3D que imite la enfermedad humana. La plataforma de coraz\u00f3n en un chip incluye sensores que rastrean el da\u00f1o y la fibrosis en tiempo real, ayud\u00e1ndonos a encontrar y probar tratamientos prometedores. Esta plataforma tambi\u00e9n podr\u00eda usarse para estudiar otras enfermedades card\u00edacas, acelerando el descubrimiento de f\u00e1rmacos\u201d<\/em>, precisa el Dr. Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Investigaci\u00f3n impulsada por las familias<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Para Duchenne Parent Project Espa\u00f1a, BEAT representa una apuesta por una investigaci\u00f3n centrada en las necesidades reales de los pacientes y sus familias. La afectaci\u00f3n card\u00edaca es una de las principales preocupaciones en la evoluci\u00f3n de la enfermedad, por lo que avanzar en herramientas que permitan comprenderla mejor y acelerar la evaluaci\u00f3n de tratamientos supone una prioridad. <em>\u201cBEAT es el pulso de nuestra lucha. Significa latido, pero tambi\u00e9n significa vencer. Y eso es lo que vamos a hacer con la cardiomiopat\u00eda asociada a las distrofias musculares de Duchenne y Becker\u201d<\/em>, afirma <strong>Silvia \u00c1vila<\/strong>, presidenta de Duchenne Parent Project Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El proyecto tambi\u00e9n contempla la participaci\u00f3n de las familias a trav\u00e9s de un comit\u00e9 asesor, con el objetivo de mantener una investigaci\u00f3n alineada con las prioridades de la comunidad Duchenne y Becker. Con esta iniciativa, Duchenne Parent Project Espa\u00f1a refuerza su compromiso con la innovaci\u00f3n biom\u00e9dica, el acceso a nuevas soluciones terap\u00e9uticas y la mejora de la calidad de vida de las personas afectadas por distrofias musculares de Duchenne y Becker. Adem\u00e1s, para poder aumentar los fondos destinados a esta investigaci\u00f3n, han puesto en marcha un proceso de crowdfunding a trav\u00e9s de la plataforma <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihelp.org.es\/causa\/beat-tecnologia-corazon-en-un-chip-para-combatir-la-fibrosis-en-las-distrofias-musculares-de-duchenne-y-becker\/\">iHelp<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Distrofia Muscular de Duchenne (DMD) es una enfermedad gen\u00e9tica, degenerativa y sin cura, que afecta en Espa\u00f1a a cerca de 1.100 personas. Se caracteriza por la ausencia de distrofina, una prote\u00edna esencial para la estabilidad y el funcionamiento del m\u00fasculo. Esta carencia genera un ciclo continuo de da\u00f1o e inflamaci\u00f3n que acelera el deterioro muscular.
