Con esta t\u00e9cnica una \u00fanica c\u00e9lula o microorganismo, en este caso una c\u00e9lula bacteriana, puede fotografiarse utilizando microondas, similares a las que se usan en la telefon\u00eda m\u00f3vil para comunicarnos o en los microondas, y as\u00ed cuantificar a la nanoescala las propiedades electromagn\u00e9ticas con gran precisi\u00f3n y reproducibilidad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNuevos avances en t\u00e9cnicas de imagen m\u00e9dica no-invasivas para el diagn\u00f3stico de c\u00e1ncer, t\u00e9cnicas de ablaci\u00f3n terap\u00e9uticas para el tratamiento del c\u00e1ncer y novedosas t\u00e9cnicas de electrocirug\u00eda est\u00e1n en proceso de desarrollo bas\u00e1ndose en el uso se las microondas y en el conocimiento de las propiedades electromagn\u00e9ticas de alta frecuencia &#8211; la permitividad compleja &#8211; de los tejidos biol\u00f3gicos,\u00bb explica Gabriel Gomila, quien lider\u00f3 la investigaci\u00f3n. \u00abAhora, hemos demostrado la posibilidad de medir estas propiedades f\u00edsicas clave tambi\u00e9n a nivel unicelular, lo que nos proporciona un mayor conocimiento sobre la interacci\u00f3n de las microondas con los entes biol\u00f3gicos y allana el camino hacia nuevas aplicaciones m\u00e9dicas de las microondas.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores han cuantificado la permitividad el\u00e9ctrica de una c\u00e9lula individual de <em>Escherichia coli<\/em>, demostrando as\u00ed que su t\u00e9cnica puede detectar la presencia de estructuras a escalas muy peque\u00f1as incluso en el interior de los microorganismos, proporcionando as\u00ed un sinf\u00edn de aplicaciones en el escaneo sin etiquetas de c\u00e9lulas bacterianas individuales en alta resoluci\u00f3n espacial, y en general, en c\u00e9lulas eucariotas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRevelar la permitividad compleja de una \u00fanica c\u00e9lula puede proporcionar informaci\u00f3n \u00fanica sobre su estructura interna y la composici\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica, y sobre su estado y fase,\u201d dice Gabriel. \u201cEsto tambi\u00e9n puede usarse para dise\u00f1ar e implementar t\u00e9cnicas el\u00e9ctricas sin etiquetas para el recuento, la medida, la separaci\u00f3n y la identificaci\u00f3n
