Estos robots son dise\u00f1ados como part\u00edculas esf\u00e9ricas con dos hemisferios diferenciados. Una cara est\u00e1 hecha con magnesio, que reacciona con el agua para producir burbujas de hidr\u00f3geno que propulsan los microbots. La otra cara est\u00e1 formada por capas alternas de hierro y oro cubiertas por nanopart\u00edculas de plata. Las bacterias se adhieren al oro y son eliminadas por las nanopart\u00edculas de plata.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abNuestros ensayos en el laboratorio muestran que los microbots pueden navegar a trav\u00e9s del agua durante unos 15 a 20 minutos antes de quedarse sin magnesio y, en este tiempo, son capaces de atrapar m\u00e1s del 80 por ciento de las bacterias <em>E. coli<\/em> en agua con una alta concentraci\u00f3n de ellas\u00bb, explica Samuel S\u00e1nchez, profesor ICREA y responsable del grupo Smart Nano-Bio-Devices del IBEC. \u00abDespu\u00e9s, debido a las propiedades magn\u00e9ticas del hierro, los microbots pueden ser recogidos f\u00e1cilmente con un im\u00e1n, sin dejar ning\u00fan residuo en el agua\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Se pueden ver los diminutos robots en acci\u00f3n en este <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/pressroom\/presspacs\/2017\/acs-presspac-june-28-2017\/swimming-microbots-can-remove-pathogenic-bacteria-from-water-video.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> que ha publicado la ACS.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Diana Vilela, Morgan M.
