El acercamiento a estas tecnolog\u00edas debe ser de \u201cabajo-a-arriba\u201d: necesitamos entender la firma el\u00e9ctrica de las biomol\u00e9culas m\u00e1s simples para crear despu\u00e9s circuitos m\u00e1s complejos o entender estructuras macromoleculares.  <\/p>\n<p>Con este objetivo, el <a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/nanoprobes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grupo del investigador principal del IBEC y profesor de investigaci\u00f3n ICREA Pau Gorostiza<\/a> ha desarrollado un contacto el\u00e9ctrico de una sola prote\u00edna capaz de transportar carga el\u00e9ctrica de forma eficiente. Los resultados revelan que una sola mutaci\u00f3n puntual en la Azurina, la biomol\u00e9cula empleada en el estudio, promueve un eficiente efecto t\u00fanel a los electrones que la atraviesan. \u201cLa Azurina tiene un \u00e1tomo de cobre; normalmente, el transporte electr\u00f3nico mediado por este metal sucede en dos pasos para cada electr\u00f3n; con una sola mutaci\u00f3n, nosotros hemos conseguido que el transporte electr\u00f3nico siga un efecto t\u00fanel directo\u201d, explica Marta Pozuelo, recientemente doctorada en el grupo de Pau y que ha desarrollado el estudio. <\/p>\n<p>Los resultados demuestran que las v\u00edas de conducci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica de la Azurina se pueden ajustar con mucha precisi\u00f3n por medio de mutaciones puntuales en la parte externa de la prote\u00edna, sin afectar a su estructura y funci\u00f3n global. \u201cHemos demostrado un mecanismo estructural mediante el cual la prote\u00edna podr\u00eda controlar el transporte de carga en muchos escenarios de inter\u00e9s biol\u00f3gico\u201d, sugiere Pau. <\/p>\n<p>Este contacto nanom\u00e9trico supone adem\u00e1s una plataforma \u00fanica para estudiar los cambios en la transferencia de electrones relacionados con la estructura de diversas biomol\u00e9culas similares a la azurina.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Art\u00edculo referenciado:<\/strong> Ruiz MP, Aragon\u00e8s AC, Camarero N, Vilhena JG, Ortega M, Zotti LA, P\u00e9rez R, Cuevas JC, Gorostiza P, D\u00edez-P\u00e9rez I.
