Aunque no se trata de la primera enzima artificial que se propone en el campo, este estudio es el primero en demostrar su viabilidad en entornos complejos como la c\u00e9lula. \u00abEl blindaje que ofrecen las SCPN a los catalizadores sint\u00e9ticos es una forma no t\u00f3xica y biocompatible de contenerlos que funciona en armon\u00eda con lo que ya est\u00e1 sucediendo en la c\u00e9lula\u00bb, dice Silvia Pujals, investigadora postdoctoral en el grupo de Lorenzo Albertazzi en el IBEC. \u00abEn otras palabras, las SCPN no interfieren con el comportamiento normal de las c\u00e9lulas\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Las SCPN en estudio se pueden administrar intracelular o extracelularmente dependiendo de la aplicaci\u00f3n prevista. Para aplicaciones de terapia fotodin\u00e1mica (PDT) se necesita una administraci\u00f3n intracelular, mientras que los catalizadores organomet\u00e1licos funcionan bien extracelularmente. Esta \u00faltima aplicaci\u00f3n de las SCPN puede suponer un avance en la administraci\u00f3n controlada de medicamentos.
