Fuente: CMR[B]<\/h6>\n<p>\u201cAhora empezamos a entender que la matriz extracelular juega un papel importante en el comportamiento de las c\u00e9lulas madre y sus aplicaciones terap\u00e9uticas en medicina regenerativa\u201d comentan los autores del estudio. \u201cLos eventos intracelulares regulados por genes y prote\u00ednas siempre se hab\u00edan considerado el principal objeto de estudio hasta ahora; sin embargo, nos falta una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia que englobe a todos los protagonistas de la regeneraci\u00f3n del tejido cardiaco\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>48 horas para regenerar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hasta ahora, la capacidad de regeneraci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas del coraz\u00f3n, los cardiomiocitos, se hab\u00eda asociado a su capacidad de proliferar. Estudios anteriores permit\u00edan teorizar que los ratones neonatos podr\u00edan ser capaces de regenerar su coraz\u00f3n tras una herida hasta siete d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de nacer, per\u00edodo durante el cual las c\u00e9lulas card\u00edacas a\u00fan est\u00e1n en fase de desarrollo.<br \/>\nPor primera vez, los investigadores del CMR[B] han evaluado experimentalmente la capacidad de regeneraci\u00f3n del rat\u00f3n ante una amputaci\u00f3n de tejido card\u00edaco desde las 24 horas hasta los nueve d\u00edas tras el nacimiento.\u201cSi la capacidad regenerativa del coraz\u00f3n neonatal dependiera de la capacidad de proliferaci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas card\u00edacas, habr\u00edamos visto regeneraci\u00f3n varios d\u00edas tras el nacimiento, como se hab\u00eda teorizado, pero no es as\u00ed\u201d, explica el Dr. Mario Notari, primer autor del art\u00edculo. \u201cEn cambio, hemos acotado experimentalmente esta ventana de regeneraci\u00f3n a dos d\u00edas, demostrando que pasadas 48 horas el coraz\u00f3n pierde la capacidad de regenerarse, aunque siga en desarrollo. As\u00ed pues, hemos desvinculado los fen\u00f3menos de regeneraci\u00f3n y proliferaci\u00f3n celular de los cardiomiocitos en ratones neonatos\u201d.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>La rigidez del entorno, factor limitante<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gracias a la colaboraci\u00f3n con el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n IBEC-UB del Dr. Daniel Navajas, tambi\u00e9n vinculado al Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red (CIBER), los investigadores realizaron el an\u00e1lisis transcript\u00f3mico y mec\u00e1nico del coraz\u00f3n a las 24 y 48 horas de nacer. La principal diferencia observada fue un incremento significativo de la rigidez de matriz extracelular, que rodea a los cardiomiocitos, a los dos d\u00edas de nacer. <\/p>\n<p>Tras disminuir dicha rigidez farmacol\u00f3gicamente, el equipo de investigaci\u00f3n consigui\u00f3 extender la capacidad de regeneraci\u00f3n del coraz\u00f3n hasta tres d\u00edas despu\u00e9s del nacimiento. \u201cNuestros resultados sugieren que la composici\u00f3n y rigidez de la matriz extracelular son un mecanismo limitante en relaci\u00f3n a la capacidad regenerativa del coraz\u00f3n en mam\u00edferos, por lo que resulta muy interesante su estudio\u201d, apunta Notari. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Un nuevo enfoque para el tratamiento de enfermedades cardiovasculares<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cConocer la ventana horaria de regeneraci\u00f3n del coraz\u00f3n en neonatos de forma tan espec\u00edfica facilitar\u00e1 el desarrollo de nuevos estudios que permitan analizar en profundidad los mecanismos responsables\u201d, a\u00f1ade el Dr. \u00c1ngel Raya, director del CMR[B] y \u00faltimo autor del trabajo. \u201cEn cualquier caso, estos hallazgos abren una puerta esperanzadora de cara al desarrollo de nuevas terapias para enfermedades cardiovasculares basadas en medicina regenerativa\u201d.
