En el art\u00edculo publicado en agosto, el investigador senior del grupo de Nanosondas y Nanoconmutadores, Ismael D\u00edez-P\u00e9rez \u2013 en colaboraci\u00f3n con investigadores del Biodesign Institute de la Arizona State University \u2013 revela una forma innovadora de medir las reacciones catal\u00edticas de nanopart\u00edculas individuales, adem\u00e1s de part\u00edculas m\u00faltiples impresas en arrays.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"caption\" style=\"width: 230px; float: left; padding: 0px 10px 10px 0px; margin-top: 100px;\">Imagen: P-ECi de densidad actual de una \u00fanica nanopart\u00edcula de platino a potencial de \u22120.5. Barra de escala 3 \u00b5m.<\/h6>\n<p>\u201cLa mayor parte de los materiales catal\u00edticos obtenidos en laboratorios contienen nanopart\u00edculas variadas con diferentes actividades electrocatal\u00edticas, pero hasta ahora s\u00f3lo ha sido posible medir la media de propiedades de todas ellas, y no las propiedades de part\u00edculas individuales,\u00bb explica Ismael. \u00abSi podemos medir las reacciones catal\u00edticas de part\u00edculas individuales, podremos entender c\u00f3mo el tama\u00f1o, la orientaci\u00f3n de los cristales y la composici\u00f3n de la nanopart\u00edcula est\u00e1n relacionados con la eficiencia de una reacci\u00f3n catal\u00edtica, adem\u00e1s de poder escanear arrays enteros de esas reacciones, que se pueden usar para un filtrado r\u00e1pido.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En el estudio, las nanopart\u00edculas se investigan usando una nueva t\u00e9cnica desarrollada anteriormente por el mismo grupo, el escaneado electroqu\u00edmico plasm\u00f3nico. \u00c9ste consiste en el procesado \u00f3ptico de reacciones electroqu\u00edmicas basadas en la resonancia en superficie de plasmones, un proceso de detecci\u00f3n que tiene lugar cuando un rayo de luz polarizada choca contra un prisma cubierto por una delgada capa met\u00e1lica. \u00abB\u00e1sicamente, medimos las reacciones electroqu\u00edmicas, no mirando\u00a0 a los electrodos, sino concentr\u00e1ndonos en las reacciones cercanas a ellos,\u00bb dice Ismael. \u00ab\u00c9stas causan cambios en la reflectividad de la luz, que la nueva t\u00e9cnica convierte en una imagen \u00f3ptica.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Usando esta t\u00e9cnica, los investigadores pudieron estudiar part\u00edculas individuales, que aparecen como puntos en un array que van apareciendo a lo largo del tiempo a medida que cambia el potencial. Los resultados mostraron que la corriente electrocatal\u00edtica aumenta proporcionalmente a la densidad de nanopart\u00edculas. Los cient\u00edficos tambi\u00e9n pudieron estudiar la actividad electrocatal\u00edtica de las nanopart\u00edculas de platino impresas en un microarray, mostrando por primera vez la posibilidad de un procesado de alto rendimiento de la actividad catalizadora de las nanopart\u00edculas.<\/p>\n<p>Esta nueva t\u00e9cnica, r\u00e1pida y no-invasiva, tambi\u00e9n parece prometedora para la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos catalizadores, y se puede usar en otras \u00e1reas donde se usan actualmente m\u00e9todos de detecci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica convencionales.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>D\u00edez P\u00e9rez, I., Wang, L., Wiktor, P., Gu, Y., L., Z., W., W., Lu, J., Wang, S., Gong, Q. &amp; Tao, N.
