Sin embargo, la producci\u00f3n en el laboratorio de tejidos capaces de comportarse de manera similar al coraz\u00f3n humano sigue suponiendo un reto.<\/p>\n<p>En este contexto, investigadores del Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a (IBEC), en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Centro de Medicina Regenerativa de Barcelona (CMR[B]), han dado a conocer mediante un art\u00edculo publicado recientemente en la revista <em>Stem Cell Reports<\/em>, un nuevo sistema de bioingenier\u00eda que podr\u00eda suponer un importante avance en este campo.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 400px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-67265-1\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" loop autoplay preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IBEC_tejido-card\u00edaco-1.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IBEC_tejido-card\u00edaco-1.mp4\">https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IBEC_tejido-card\u00edaco-1.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La nueva plataforma, bautizada con el nombre de CardioSlice, es capaz de producir, a partir de c\u00e9lulas madre pluripotentes humanas (PSC) y de matrices tridimensionales, tejidos card\u00edacos con propiedades muy especiales. Y es que, seg\u00fan detallan los investigadores, los tejidos artificiales que se obtienen con CardioSlice son capaces de latir de forma aut\u00f3noma, producen una se\u00f1al el\u00e9ctrica similar a un electrocardiograma y responden a f\u00e1rmacos del modo que lo hace un coraz\u00f3n humano. Para ello, los cient\u00edficos e ingenieros en IBEC y CMR[B] han dise\u00f1ado y construido una cadena en paralelo de biorreactores que permiten la estimulaci\u00f3n, observaci\u00f3n y estudio <em>in situ<\/em> de la electrofisiolog\u00eda del tejido resultante, as\u00ed como del impacto de factores externos como, por ejemplo, medicamentos con efectos cardiot\u00f3xicos.<\/p>\n<p>En palabras de Elena Mart\u00ednez, investigadora principal en el IBEC y profesora en la Universidad de Barcelona (UB): \u201cCardioSlice es como una minif\u00e1brica de tejidos que nos podr\u00eda ayudar a discernir qu\u00e9 medicamentos pueden da\u00f1ar a nuestro coraz\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores muestran en varios v\u00eddeos que el nivel de complejidad de los tejidos que <em>CardioSlice<\/em> permite obtener se observa en la actividad espont\u00e1nea de los mismos en forma de contracciones y de se\u00f1ales an\u00e1logas a las de un electrocardiograma (ECG). \u201cEl an\u00e1lisis avanzado de la se\u00f1al electrofisiol\u00f3gica de <em>CardioSlice<\/em> permite cuantificar cambios en el ECG debidos al efecto de un f\u00e1rmaco, identificando cambios en el ritmo card\u00edaco, aparici\u00f3n de QRS ect\u00f3picos o prolongaci\u00f3n del intervalo QT\u201d, explica Raimon Jan\u00e9, investigador principal del grupo de Procesos e Interpretaci\u00f3n de Se\u00f1ales Biom\u00e9dicas del IBEC y profesor en la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Catalu\u00f1a (UPC).<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los autores del art\u00edculo \u201cLa relevancia fisiol\u00f3gica de los tejidos producidos por CardioSlice, junto con su naturaleza escalable y la funci\u00f3n de monitoreo electrofisiol\u00f3gico en l\u00ednea, hacen que nuestra tecnolog\u00eda se sit\u00fae a la vanguardia de la producci\u00f3n de macrotejidos card\u00edacos humanos dise\u00f1ados hasta la fecha.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Este estudio se ha realizado en colaboraci\u00f3n con cient\u00edficos de tres grupos del Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a (IBEC), investigadores del Centro de Medicina Regenerativa de Barcelona (CMR[B]), la Universidad de Barcelona (UB), la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Catalu\u00f1a (UPC) y el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red en el \u00e1rea tem\u00e1tica de Bioingenier\u00eda, Biomateriales y Nanomedicina\u00a0(CIBER-BBN).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Art\u00edculo referenciado: Valls-Margarit et al<em>., <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/stem-cell-reports\/fulltext\/S2213-6711(19)30192-4?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS2213671119301924%3Fshowall%3Dtrue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Engineered macroscale cardiac constructs elicit human myocardial tissue-like functionality<\/em><\/a>.
