
{"id":73720,"date":"2020-04-24T11:19:59","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T09:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/?p=73720"},"modified":"2020-06-15T12:55:12","modified_gmt":"2020-06-15T10:55:12","slug":"la-bioingenieria-contribuye-a-nuevos-avances-contra-el-cancer-infantil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/es\/la-bioingenieria-contribuye-a-nuevos-avances-contra-el-cancer-infantil\/","title":{"rendered":"La bioingenier\u00eda contribuye a nuevos avances contra el c\u00e1ncer infantil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Su aparici\u00f3n es m\u00e1s frecuente en las gl\u00e1ndulas suprarrenales y alrededor de ellas, pero tambi\u00e9n puede presentarse en otras \u00e1reas del abdomen y en el t\u00f3rax, el cuello y cerca de la columna vertebral.<\/p>\n<p>Ahora, Investigadores del Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a (IBEC), el Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Sanitaria INCLIVA y el Hospital Cl\u00ednico de Valencia han dado un paso m\u00e1s para comprender c\u00f3mo evolucionan estos tumores y poder encontrar posibles soluciones para este tipo de c\u00e1ncer. En concreto, los expertos han descubierto c\u00f3mo afecta la rigidez de la matriz extracelular tumoral a la agresividad del neuroblastoma.<\/p>\n<p>El hallazgo se recoge en un estudio publicado este mes de abril en la revista Scientific Reports que firman un grupo de expertos entre los que se encuentra Josep Samitier, director del IBEC y responsable del Grupo de Nanobioingenier\u00eda del Instituto y profesor de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB).<\/p>\n<p>Estudios anteriores ya indicaban que la cantidad y disposici\u00f3n de los distintos elementos del microambiente tumoral podr\u00edan asociarse con la agresividad del neuroblastoma modificando su rigidez. Estos trabajos suger\u00edan que las matrices extracelulares m\u00e1s r\u00edgidas generan un comportamiento tumoral m\u00e1s agresivo, lo que motiv\u00f3 a los autores del trabajo publicado ahora a enfocar la nueva investigaci\u00f3n abordando la rigidez de la matriz de forma sencilla y gen\u00e9rica.<\/p>\n<p>Para la elaboraci\u00f3n del estudio, los investigadores se sirvieron de un modelo tridimensional obtenido a trav\u00e9s de la impresi\u00f3n 3D capaz de generar diferentes niveles de rigidez para recrear versiones simplificadas de tumores. Gracias a esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda los expertos pudieron advertir c\u00f3mo las propiedades biomec\u00e1nicas de la matriz extracelular tumoral afectaban a la evoluci\u00f3n del neuroblastoma.<\/p>\n<p>En primer lugar, los investigadores desarrollaron patrones de hidrogeles con tres rigideces distintas que modulaban, incrementando o disminuyendo, la cantidad de un compuesto llamado alginato metacrilado. Luego cultivaron c\u00e9lulas neurobl\u00e1sticas agresivas en estos modelos y, finalmente, estudiaron su comportamiento a lo largo del tiempo.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados del trabajo ponen de manifiesto que las matrices m\u00e1s r\u00edgidas favorecen la adaptaci\u00f3n y el crecimiento de las c\u00e9lulas m\u00e1s agresivas con el tiempo, lo que corrobora que la rigidez de la membrana extracelular tumoral juega un papel clave en el desarrollo del tumor. Adem\u00e1s, esto abre la puerta a futuros ensayos terap\u00e9uticos dirigidos a bloquear la interacci\u00f3n celular con los componentes que confieren rigidez a la matriz extracelular tumoral.<\/p>\n<p>El trabajo publicado ahora forma parte de una investigaci\u00f3n mucho m\u00e1s extensa durante la que los investigadores ir\u00e1n aumentando la complejidad de los modelos. As\u00ed, por ejemplo, est\u00e1 previsto que los expertos vayan introduciendo el cultivo mixto de c\u00e9lulas tumorales con otras estromales -c\u00e9lulas no tumorales que conforman el estroma o tejido estructural alrededor de las c\u00e9lulas tumorales-, y a\u00f1adan tambi\u00e9n nuevos componentes de la matriz extracelular a los distintos modelos para obtener patrones caracter\u00edsticos de la matriz asociados a determinados comportamientos celulares.<\/p>\n<p>En el art\u00edculo\u202fhan participado investigadores de los grupos de la Profesora Rosa Noguera y del Profesor Josep Samitier como parte de uno de los tres proyectos colaborativos entre el CIBERONC y el CIBER-BBN que se pusieron en marcha en 2018. Adem\u00e1s, ha contribuido a la elaboraci\u00f3n del estudio el\u202finvestigador Ezequiel Monferrer, que cuenta con una Ayuda predoctoral de la Sede Provincial de Valencia de la Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Contra el C\u00e1ncer (AECC).
