Sin embargo, el cerebro es impermeable al 95% de los f\u00e1rmacos conocidos<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, ya que\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">no son capaces de cruzar lo que se conoce como barrera hematoencef\u00e1lica (BHE)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Este hecho\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dificulta el desarrollo de la mayor\u00eda de terapias neurol\u00f3gicas<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ahora, un equipo formado por cient\u00edficos de China, EE.UU., Italia, Reino Unido y Espa\u00f1a, liderado por el profesor de investigaci\u00f3n ICREA\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/member\/1639\/Giuseppe+Battaglia\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Giuseppe Battaglia<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0del grupo\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/es\/molecular-bionics\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Molecular Bionics<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0del\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ibecbarcelona.eu\/es\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Instituto de Bioingenier\u00eda de Catalu\u00f1a<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(IBEC)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0ha descrito c\u00f3mo se da el transporte de mol\u00e9culas a trav\u00e9s de las c\u00e9lulas endoteliales del cerebro, ubicadas en la BHE. El estudio, publicado en la prestigiosa revista\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/advances.sciencemag.org\/content\/6\/48\/eabc4397\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Science Adv<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nces<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, muestra, a partir del modelo basado en<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0una prote\u00edna, la L<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">RP1 (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">prote\u00edna 1 relacionada con el receptor de lipoprote\u00ednas de baja densidad<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0c\u00f3mo la avidez de la carga con los receptores (es decir, qu\u00e9 tan fuerte est\u00e1 unida a ellos) determina<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0si las\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">mol\u00e9culas<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">atraviesan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0la<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s c\u00e9lulas endoteliales de la\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BHE y llegan al cerebro, o\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">si<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0por lo contrario\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">son degradadas en\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">su\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">interior<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0y no logran atravesar esa barrera.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Una \u00ablanzadera\u00bb para viajar al cerebro\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Con<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0el fin de dilucidar el tr\u00e1fico de<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0sustancias<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, los investigadores utilizaron modelos\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in vitro<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0e\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in vivo<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0de\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BHE. En concreto,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">inyectaron en ratas y ratones mol\u00e9culas sint\u00e9ticas con\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">diferentes ligandos LRP1, llamad<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s\u00a0polimerosomas<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, del\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tama\u00f1o similar al de un virus<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. As\u00ed, en los casos en los que la energ\u00eda de uni\u00f3n o la avidez es alta, las c\u00e9lulas inician la formaci\u00f3n de ves\u00edculas. En este caso, la sustancia a transportar se metaboliza en su interior, degrad\u00e1ndose dentro de estas cavidades y, posiblemente, no llega a su destino ya que es consumida por la propia c\u00e9lula endotelial. Por otro lado, ante una energ\u00eda o avidez media, la prote\u00edna syndapin-2 inicia la creaci\u00f3n de los \u201cpasajes tubulares\u201d, un\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">camino\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">mucho m\u00e1s eficiente para\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cruzar la<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s
