En concentraciones inferiores a las que inducen anticoagulaci\u00f3n de la sangre de rat\u00f3n in vivo, la actividad parasiticida result\u00f3 ser la suma de las actividades separadas de heparina libre como antimal\u00e1rico y de heparina unida al liposoma como elemento vectorizador para la primaquina encapsulada.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores observaron mediante im\u00e1genes de fluorescencia confocal y de microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica que al cabo de 30 minutos de haber tratado gl\u00f3bulos rojos infectados por Plasmodium con heparina, \u00e9sta hab\u00eda penetrado los par\u00e1sitos intracelulares.<\/p>\n<p>Xavier Fern\u00e1ndez-Busquets, investigador IBEC e ISGlobal y coordinador del estudio, comenta que \u201cestos resultados abren la puerta a mejorar el tratamiento con heparina contra la malaria debido a su actividad aditiva como f\u00e1rmaco y como elemento vectorizador espec\u00edfico de otros antimal\u00e1ricos; sin embargo, ser\u00e1 necesario realizar m\u00e1s investigaci\u00f3n a nivel cl\u00ednico para comprobar el papel de la heparina en pacientes infectados por <em>Plasmodium<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Referencia del art\u00edculo:<\/strong> Marques J, Moles E, Urb\u00e1n P, Prohens R, Busquets MA, Sevrin C, Grandfils C, Fern\u00e0ndez-Busquets X.
