Es selectivo para el receptor de glutamato metabotr\u00f3pico (mGlu5) y permite el control \u00f3ptico de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n mGlu5 in vivo.<\/h6>\n<p>Los investigadores, del IBEC, IQAC-CSIC, UAB e IDIBELL en Barcelona y del IGF-CNRS de Montpellier, Francia, han desarrollado una peque\u00f1a mol\u00e9cula agente terap\u00e9utico que al unirse espec\u00edficamente en el lugar no-activo, o lugar alost\u00e9rico, de la prote\u00edna diana es capaz de modular sus receptores. Los moduladores alost\u00e9ricos tienen numerosas ventajas comparados con los f\u00e1rmacos tradicionales, ofrecen una mayor selectividad para unirse a los receptores espec\u00edficos, se liberan de forma sincronizada de acuerdo a la actividad de la prote\u00edna y su potencial de toxicidad es menor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPara construir un modulador fotocontrolable para un receptor acoplado a prote\u00edna G hemos tenido que desarrollar un nuevo concepto de dise\u00f1o qu\u00edmico en el que el fotoconmutable no est\u00e1 unido al f\u00e1rmaco sino que est\u00e1 insertado en el farmac\u00f3foro, que es el grupo de \u00e1tomos de una mol\u00e9cula de un f\u00e1rmaco que son responsables de su acci\u00f3n,\u201d explica Pau Gorostiza, investigador principal del grupo de Nanosondas y Nanoconmutadores del IBEC. \u201cTambi\u00e9n hemos tenido un poco de suerte porque no solo hemos obtenido un ligando fotoconmutable para estas prote\u00ednas, sino que tambi\u00e9n es uno de los moduladores alost\u00e9ricos m\u00e1s potentes y selectivos de su clase\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Los efectos de este compuesto \u2018optofarmacol\u00f3gico\u2019 pueden ser controlados remotamente en el espacio y en el tiempo en organismos vivos.
