1.Introduction to vacant position:
The DNA Repair and Cancer Predisposition Syndromes Group is looking for a Junior Researcher to work on the development of novel drugs targeting DNA repair.
The contract will be within the framework of the “Precision Medicine in Fanconi anemia” (FANCONI-CURE) project prioritized by the IBEC under the “Plan Complementario de Biotecnología aplicada a la Salud” (biotechnology applied to health).
This Plan Complementario is co-financed by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and the Generalitat de Catalunya, with funds from the European Union NextGenerationEU (PRTR-C17.I1).
2. The successful candidate will develop research involving:
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jordi Surrallés, the applicant will carry out the following research activities,
- Execution of a drug discovery project using a defective DNA repair pathway as a therapeutic target in patients with Fanconi anemia.
- Application of techniques of genetics, biotechnology, molecular biology and cell biology for the validation of targets and drugs arising from pharmacological screenings.
The work site will be the Joint Unit of Genomic Medicine of the Research Institute of the Hospital de Sant Pau-IIB Sant Pau.
3. Requirements for candidates
Essential:
- A PhD degree in the field of life sciences and biomedicine (Genetics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, etc…)
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking
- High level of English
