Senior Laboratory Technician at the Spatial Biotechnology Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Spatial Biotechnology Group is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to manage the research group laboratory and develop and implement experimental approaches for spatial  omics.

This project is financed by the ERC-2023-StG project “Integrative profiling and engineering of clonal cancer cell behaviors: from the tissue level down to the molecular scale” from the EU Horizon Europe program, with grant agreement number 101117905.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Laboratory management: maintain and organize laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations, collaborate effectively with other lab members, and assist in training and mentoring junior lab members.
  • Independently perform a wide range of molecular biology techniques.
  • Execute tissue processing and imaging protocols, including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and multiparameter tissue imaging.
  • Conduct cell culture experiments, including primary cell isolation, maintenance of cell lines, and genetic manipulations.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of novel experimental protocols for spatial omics.
  • Operate and maintain advanced microscopy equipment.
  • Maintain organized and well-documented records of experimental data and analysis results.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • BSc and MSc in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biotechnology).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a research laboratory, preferably in cancer biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology techniques, tissue imaging, microscopy, and data analysis.
  • Good working knowledge of English.
  • Willingness to work in a highly multidisciplinary environment and a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good skills in communication, teamwork, proactivity, commitment, integrity, critical and analytical thinking, precision, and focus.

Advantageous:

  • Experience with high-throughput assays, automation, and computational tools is a plus.
  • Previous experience in image analysis.
  • A genuine interest in spatial biology, cancer research, and the development of new technologies.

    • Full time 3-year employment contract. Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
