Introduction to the vacant position:
The Molecular Bionics Group is looking for a Senior Researcher to develop research in the field of polymeric-based nanomaterials in the field of biomedicine, focusing mainly in their synthesis, formulation and physicochemical. The successful candidate will also be required to take the lead a high-performance analytic facility that will be set in place for the characterization of polymer and nanoparticle as well as contribute in the management of the research group and in the submission of research publications and proposals.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Biopolymers design, synthesis and characterisation
- Nanoparticle formulation and physicochemical characterisation
- Lead a high-performance analytic facility that includes: HPLC, GPC-MALS, AF4-MALS, SEC-MALS, DLS
- Work independently and in collaboration with external collaborators, both national and international
- Play a lead role in laboratory supervision and experimental planning. This includes the supervision and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Team management and performing administrative task for the research group
- IP generation and management
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- PhD with postdoctoral experience in polymeric-based nanomaterials for biomedicine with a focus on synthesising and formulating the materials and their physicochemical characterisation.
- At least six years have passed since the date of obtaining the doctorate. This date will be understood as the date of the doctoral thesis defence. For those who hold more than one doctorate, this requirement refers to the first one obtained.
- Demonstrate quality of production and scientific-technological activity:
a) Scientific and technical contributions: Articles published in scientific journals, books or chapters of scientific and technical books, works presented at congresses, patents granted or licensed, and, in general, any other contribution that allows the assessment of the different aspects of research.
b) Other curricular merits: It will be assessed, among other aspects:
- Obtaining awards, mentions and distinctions
- Dissemination and scientific dissemination activities
- Have postdoctoral experience at Spanish and foreign universities or R&D centres other than IBEC. Stays or mobility while providing services to IBEC.
- Teaching activities in national or foreign universities.
- Any other contribution that makes it possible to assess research merits not included in the previous sections
- Multidisciplinary qualifications and/or knowledge on polymer chemistry and physiochemistry, nanomaterials and nanomedicine (specifically knowledge on the following technics HPLC, GPC/SEC-MALS, AF4-MALS and DLS will be a plus).
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English
Advantageous:
- Experience both synthetic and natural polymers
- Experience in working or leading a facility
- Experience in biological assays for nanomaterial, mainly in vitro experiments and confocal microscopy.
