Predoctoral researcher at the Smart NanoBioDevices Research Group (Project BiOrganiBOTS)

Proyecto de Generación de Conocimiento 2024 by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Smart Nano-Biodevices Group is looking for a Predoctoral Researcher to develop a PhD project on biocompatible nanomotors for colorectal cancer treatment. The contract will be funded within the framework of the “Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento 2024” project BiOrganiBOTS (Biodegradable Organic Nanobots for the Treatment of Mucinous Tumors), through an FPI grant associated with the project.

This fellowship is associated with the research project Generación de Conocimiento, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Synthesis and optimization of PLGA-based nanoparticles and enzymatic nanomotors.
  • Drug loading/release studies in cellular models.
  • Development of patient-derived mucus-secreting tumor-on-a-chip model.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • Degree and Master’s in any field of chemistry, materials sciences, biology, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, or similar.
  • Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Maths, Physics/Engineering, biology/chemistry etc.) and/or knowledge on nanoparticles and drug delivery systems (specifically on enzyme catalysis and nanomotors will be a plus).
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
  • High level of English.

Advantageous:

  • Experience in 3D printing, skills in CAD modelling (e.g., Autodesk Fusion 360), and familiarity with Freeform software from Formlabs will be considered a plus.
  • Experience related with the field of nanomotors will be highly valued.
