Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving:

“In vivo” experiments with mouse and rat models and routine supervision of the experimental animals, under veterinary guidelines. These will include surgical Central Nervous System experimental procedures, such as brain injections, CSF collection, in utero brain injection.

Help with biological laboratory procedures based on the specifications provided by the researchers. This includes : cell culture/maintenance and basic biological assays (g., viability, immunostainings, ELISA).

Maintenance of technical infrastructures related to the biology lab, including regular lab and instruments cleaning, reporting machine or equipment failure.

Support to researcher’s development of experimental configurations.

Keep track over the respect of the safety laboratory procedures and reporting potential infringement of the safety rules.

Collaborate to the laboratory daily managing routine and keep control over the correct storing of chemical and reagents.
Requirements for candidates:

Laboratory technician diploma or Degree or Master in Veterinary / Biology / Biotechnology or related fields.

Accredited A (Animal care), B (Euthanasia), C (Experimental procedure) Functions according to RD 53/2013.

Previous experience in rat and mice handling, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal and intravenous injection.

Previous experience in Central Nervous System experimental procedures, especially surgical procedures (brain injections, CSF collection, in utero brain injection).

Multidisciplinary qualifications, experience in cell culture (neurons, astrocytes, microglia) and basic biological assays (immunofluorescence, western blot, viability assay, RT-PCR).
