Introduction to the vacant position:
The Enzyme Sensors and Chemical Probes group is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to manage the research group laboratory and establish research on fluorogenic enzyme sensors for fluorescence microscopy. This position fits within our overall aim of revealing disease mechanisms through the development of imaging tools and chemical probes, leading up to methods for translatable drug discovery.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Laboratory management: help the set-up of equipment and research protocols, and assist in training and mentoring of junior lab members
- Fluorogenic sensor development:construct fluorescence-based tools through peptide synthesis and protein semi-synthesis
- Enzyme assay development: investigate enzyme activity in vitro using purified recombinant proteins
- Live cell imaging: establish protocols for spatiotemporal tracking of enzyme activity in cell culture
- Outreach: disseminate research findings at international conferences and through publications
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- Education: Ph.D. degree in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field
- Technical expertise: demonstrated expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or synthetic chemistry techniques
- Transversal skills: scientific communication in English, ability to work and communicate in an interdisciplinary environment, time management, collaboration
- Motivation: strong interest in research management and cutting-edge chemical biology research
Advantageous:
- Experience in laboratory management and/or purchasing equipment
- Experience with enzyme biochemistry
- Experience with cell culture and fluorescence microscopy
- Experience working within international teams or institutions
