Introduction to the vacant position:
The Molecular Bionics Research Group is looking for a Senior Researcher
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinate the production of proteins and baculovirus using insect cells and all the neuronal cell culture work.
- Lead the subproject on neuronal degeneration in Alzheimer’s Disease.
- Supervise students and coordinate postdoctoral researchers and technicians.
- Write manuscripts and grants.
- Coordinate postdoctoral researchers and technicians within the neuronal degeneration subgroup.
- Write grant proposals.
- Manage the budget associated to the projects.
- Manage any other activities required to lead the team and associated projects.
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- PhD in Biology.
- At least six years have passed since the date of obtaining the doctorate. This date will be understood as the date of doctoral thesis defense. For those who hold more than one doctorate, this requirement refers to the first one obtained.
- Experience and knowledge of production of recombinant proteins in insect cells.
- Experience in the use of microfluidic devices to study neuronal function.
- Experience with the differentiation of hPSCs into neuronal lineages.
- Experience handling mice and working with primary neuronal cultures.
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English.
- Minimum elementary level of Catalan.
Advantageous:
- Experience in writing grant proposals.
- Experience in live-cell imaging studies and biophysical approaches.
- Experience in using in vitro reconstitution to study tau and amyloid-beta phase transitions.
