L’IBEC participarà en un projecte europeu de referència sobre la física de la matèria viva

Xavier Trepat and his team at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) are key partners in ALIVE: Active Living Matter — Information, Vitality, and Emergence, an international research programme selected for funding through the first European edition of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge Programme. Coordinated by the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, the project will receive 75 million DKK (around €10 million) over six years to uncover how information flows drive the emergence, organisation and function of living tissues.

Creen teixits vius capaços de canviar de forma de manera programada

Investigadors de l’Institut de Bioenginyeria de Catalunya (IBEC), la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) ) i el Centre Internacional de Mètodes Numèrics a l’Enginyeria (CIMNE) han desenvolupat una nova estratègia per “programar” la forma de teixits biològics in vitro. El treball, publicat a la revista Science, demostra per primera vegada que és possible guiar les forces i forma final d’un teixit viu controlant l’orientació de les seves cèl·lules. La recerca obre la porta a noves aplicacions en enginyeria de teixits, robòtica biohíbrida i el disseny de materials vius intel·ligents.
