Introduction to the position:
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher interested in studying neuronal degeneration associated with Alzheimer’s disease. The main objective of the project is to develop both in vitro and cellular/neuronal models to identify triggers and inhibitors of Tau solid transitions in Alzheimer’s disease. The project is led by Amayra Hernández Vega (PI).
We seek an outstanding and curious researcher with genuine enthusiasm for this research area and a strong background in in vitro reconstitution, neuroscience, developmental neurobiology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.
This is a competitive, full-time position funded by the Pasqual Maragall Research Programme, available from May 2026 for a period of three years. Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to apply for independent postdoctoral fellowships during the contract period.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Optimization of in vitro and neuronal models for high-throughput screening
- Semi-automated analysis and quantification of microscopy data
- Scientific leadership in manuscript preparation and active participation in conferences, workshops, and dissemination activities
- Supervision of PhD students and contribution to mentoring and training activities within the group
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, or a related field
- Experience with in vitro reconstitution systems and/or neuronal models developed during PhD research
- Strong cellular and biochemical expertise
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive mindset, integrity, and strong critical and analytical skills
- Strong English communication skills, along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Advantageous:
- Experience in protein purification, in vitro reconstitution, and TIRF microscopy
- Experience with human iPSCs and organoid technologies
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills, particularly in multidisciplinary settings
