Race for life

They joined more than 10,000 other local women running, jogging, walking, strolling and even rollerskating the route, which began at the Arc de Triomf and passed along the Parc de la Ciutadella, the Passeig de Colom, up La Rambla and back to the Arc.

The Carrera de la Mujer, which takes place in several Spanish cities between March and November each year, is an initiative launched by dairy company Asturiana to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. The next race in the season will take place on 14 November in Zaragoza.

“We are all very proud, and all of us arrived well and in less than an hour,” says Assistant to the Director Pilar Ciriquián, who organized the IBEC participation. “But it’s really a question of doing it for a good cause and to have a good time all together.

“Some IBEC women ran in previous years, but this has been the first time we’ve gathered such a big group and run as a big team. Of course, we hope that in future there will be a lot more of IBEC’s girls.”

Congratulations to everyone (Pilar, Melba Navarro, Núria Ferrer, Nadège Sachot, Judith Forné, Arantxa Sanz, Teresa Sanchis, Ruth Diez, Olga Esteban, Clara Sandino, Gemma Pérez, Laura Fumagalli, Ana González, Isabel Oliveira, Maruxa Estevez, Marta Sanmarti, Marilia Barreiros, Lorena Redondo, Sabine Oberhansl, Ester Rodríguez, Montse Chales-Harris) for hitting the finish line.
