Investigadores del Instituto de Bioingeniería de Cataluña (IBEC), la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) y el Centro Internacional de Métodos Numéricos en Ingeniería (CIMNE) han desarrollado una nueva estrategia para “programar” la forma de tejidos biológicos in vitro. El trabajo, publicado en la revista Science, demuestra por primera vez que es posible guiar las fuerzas y forma final de un tejido vivo controlando la orientación de sus células. La investigación abre la puerta a nuevas aplicaciones en ingeniería de tejidos, robótica biohíbrida y el diseño de materiales vivos inteligentes.
