Technical Support to Research at the Bioengineering in Reproductive Health Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Bioengineering in Reproductive Health Research Group is looking for a Technical Support to Research to support the advanced microscopy research lines of the group. In particular, the support and participation in the development of an optical system for label-free imaging plus multi/hyperspectral detection for the study of human embryos and oocytes. The goal is to provide technical support to design and develop a customized optical system based on commercial components to detect the auto-fluorescence of embryo and oocyte samples in a non-invasive way and extract meaningful biological information.

The Open Innovation laboratory is a multidisciplinary environment where biologists, physicists, clinicians and business developers synergize to create a unique environment shaped by applied science and entrepreneurship through the creation of spin-offs companies. Due to the high translational component of our research, we have established collaboration contracts with the pharma industry, hospitals and venture capital to bring our technology to the clinics and the market.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

You will provide technical support to the following research activities:

  • Support the development of label-free microscopy and multi/hyperspectral systems for discriminating competent live embryos and oocytes.
  • Support the design and integration of optoelectronic-based setups for live sample imaging.
  • Support and apply the image analysis methods for extracting meaningful biological information of the samples.
  • Support the start-up of new experiments to obtain statistically significant results.
  • Carry out real-world use cases establishing relationships with industry and clinical partners.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • Degree/Graduated in Physics.
