En los tejidos vivos también se produce fracking

IBEC_fracking tejidos webEn un artículo que se publica hoy en la revista Nature Materials, investigadores del Institut de Bioingeniería de Catalunya (IBEC) y de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) han descubierto el fracking celular.

El descubrimiento del fracking en tejidos vivos abre la puerta a nuevas aplicaciones biotecnológicas. Según Xavier Trepat, investigador principal del grupo de Dinámica Integrativa de Células y Tejidos del IBEC, profesor investigador ICREA y profesor asociado en la UB que ha liderado la investigación, “una de ellas sería la liberación selectiva de fármacos. Se podría utilizar esta técnica para causar pequeñas fracturas reversibles en tejidos de difícil acceso, y utilizar estas fracturas para suministrar fármacos de forma controlada”.

The article includes interviews with researchers from New York, Munich and Rome, who alongside Ángel attended a conference organised by the Areces Foundation and the Nature Group last week in Madrid.

Premio ICREA Academia para un investigador principal del IBEC

SONY DSCGabriel Gomila, investigador principal del IBEC y Profesor Asociado de la UB, ha recibido un premio ICREA Academia 2014 por su excelencia en la investigación y su capacidad de liderazgo.

Este premio se otorga anualmente por la Institució Catalana per la Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA) para animar a los profesionales universitarios con una trayectoria de investigación destacada a permanecer en el sistema universitario catalán, este año la lista de los 30 ganadores está formada por 10 investigadores de la UB, 8 de la UAB, 3 de la UPC, 2 de la Universitat de Girona y uno de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

Gabriel, quien lidera el grupo Caracterización Bioeléctrica en la Nanoescala del IBEC, es uno de los sólo siete investigadores en el campo de la Tecnología y la Ingeniería en ganar el premio este año.
