IBEC Intramural Thematic Networks

THEMATIC NETWORKS

The IBEC Thematic Networks, supported by the Severo Ochoa Program (2023–2026), represent a new initiative designed to foster scientific collaboration and strengthen synergies across IBEC’s research groups.

Following an internal call for proposals, IBEC has identified five key areas within bioengineering with high potential for inter-group collaboration: rare diseases, artificial intelligence, nanomedicine, quasi-living systems, and the central nervous system. Each of these thematic networks includes the participation of at least five IBEC research groups, ensuring a truly multidisciplinary approach.

Through these networks, we aim to deepen our commitment to multi-disciplinary and intramural collaboration at IBEC, providing a platform for idea exchange, collaborative project development, and support for senior researchers. This initiative is part of our broader mission to advance health innovation and scientific discovery through strengthened internal cooperation.

The five selected Thematic Networks are:

  • NET-NANO: Next-generation nanomedicine
  • NET-RARE: Multidisciplinary approaches to tackle rare diseases with personalized medicine (diagnostics and therapies)
  • NET-AI: Artificial Intelligence for Bioengineering
  • NET-QUASI: Quasi-living systems: Merge and Emerge
  • NET-CNS: Bioengineering approaches to understand, model and modify healthy and pathological central nervous system (CNS)

All IBEC groups are welcome to join any thematic network and actively participate by sharing their insights.
