Postdoctoral position / Research Assistant at the Research Group Molecular Imaging for Precision Medicine

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Molecular Imaging for Precision Medicine group is looking for a postdoctoral researcher or research assistant to work on hyperpolarization-enhanced magnetic resonance methods and metabolomic studies by NMR.

The contract will be within the framework of the EU FET Open project “Benchtop NMR spectrometer for lab-on-a-chip” (https://blocproject.eu), whose objective is the development of non-invasive assays based on hyperpolarized magnetic resonance (MR) to study real-time metabolism on tissue engineered organ-on-a-chip systems.

Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving:

  • Prepare samples, acquire and process data for metabolomic studies
  • Perform and optimise PHIP and DNP experiments
  • Perform NMR and MRI experiments
  • Co-supervise students
  • Participate in lab meetings
  • Represent the lab at national and international meetings
  • Write and publish journal articles

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • MSc or PhD in physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering or similar areas
  • Previous experience in NMR at any level
  • Competencies and skills: Excellent communication and teamworking skills, proactivity, commitment, critical and analytical thinking
  • High level of English

Advantageous:

  • International experience
  • Experience in MRI will be a plus
  • Experience in scientific writing (papers)
  • Multidisciplinary qualifications

  • Working conditions:
    • Full time contract for 9.5 months. Competitive salary/ Salary will be commensurate with academic level and experience.
