The Advanced Summer School, which is co-organised by IBEC, the Instituto de Engenharia Biomédica (INEB) and the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto (IPATIMUB), both in Portugal, introduces PhD students and early postdocs to advanced experimental techniques. With the focus this year on the ‘self-renewal/differentiation interface’, the sessions in the Control of Stem Cell Potency lab at IBEC and at the UB today are helping the students get to grips with generating human pluripotent stem cells and analysing planarian regeneration.
The lab sessions will be followed by three days of lectures from tomorrow until Friday, featuring top international speakers from biomedical engineering, stem cell proliferation, cell fate maintenance and differentiation.
