Dr. James Eills, researcher at IBEC, has been selected to attend the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting that brings together outstanding young scientists from around the world with Nobel laureates. This year, the event will be dedicated to Physiology & Medicine and will be held from 25th-30th June in Lindau, Germany.
Dr. James Eills, researcher at IBEC, has been selected to attend the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. On its 72nd edition, the event will be dedicated to Physiology and Medicine, bringing together Nobel laureates in the field with outstanding young scientists from around the world. It will be held from 25th-30th June 2023 in Lindau, Germany.
The young researcher is currently working as a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at IBEC, in the Molecular Imaging for Precision Medicine group led by Junior Group Leader Irene Marco Rius. Dr. Eills’ research is focused on hyperpolarized magnetic resonance and microfluidics, using parahydrogen for enhanced sensing.
”I’m excited to visit Lindau and meet world-leading researchers and young scientists on the shores of the Bodensee. The applications of my research are in precision medicine, but my background is actually in physical chemistry, so the week in Lindau will be a unique opportunity for me to immerse myself in physiology and medicine. My supervisor Dr. Irene Marco Rius attended the Lindau meeting in 2013 and has told me she has very good memories of the week, so I look forward to it!” explains Eills.
Dr. Eills was nominated for the opportunity by the ICREA Professor and leader of the Biosensors for bioengineering group at IBEC, Javier Ramon through the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA).
The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings have been taking place since 1951 with a clear motto “Educate. Inspire. Connect”, becoming one of the most prestigious events in science. This year, 635 Young Scientists from around the world will get the chance to listen to lectures, Agora Talks, panel discussions as well as enjoy personal exchange with around 40 Nobel Laureates and the other Young Scientists dedicated to the field of Physiology & Medicine.
