Predoctoral researcher at the Molecular Bionics Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

We are setting up the Centre for Liquid Phase Electron Microscopy Imaging at Barcelona.This will be equipped with state-of-the-art electron microscopy facilities to image liquid samples with sub-nanometer spatial resolution and with temporal resolution of nanoseconds.
We are looking for a Physical Sciences or Engineering graduate to work on the development of novel 3D imaging modality of various in water. The project will include advance imaging analysis and modelling. A strong background in mathematics and calculus is expected. Experience in coding is essential, including python, octave, c++, or equivalent. Experience with molecular dynamics, deep learning and/or neural network is desirable as well as any previous experience in transmission electron microscopy.

Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving: 

• Sample preparation for Liquid phase TEM

• Liquid phase transmission electron microscopy imaging

• Numerical simulation and computing.

• Reconstruction algorithms to model nanoparticles in 3D.

• Electron microscopy image analysis and optimization.

Requirements for candidates:

• Degree and Master on any field on Physical Sciences/Engineering/Computational Sciences.

• Multidisciplinary qualifications (Physics/Mathematics/Engineering) and knowledge on computational modeling.

• Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.

• High level of English.

• Full time 3-year contract
