This Friday, 12th April, Nanoprobes and Nanoswitches group leader Pau Gorostiza will be attending a meeting of the European Research Council (ERC)’s prestigious ‘Proof of Concept’ scheme, under which he was awarded funding earlier this year.
He will be presenting his project, THERALIGHT, to the community of Catalan ERC grant holders as well as EU and government representatives, during which he will highlight how IBEC´s support services for projects was a key element in his success.
Secondly, as a result of IBEC’s recent signing of a collaboration agreement with the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) in May last year, junior group leader Eduard Torrents will be involved in next week’s International Course on Antimicrobial Strategies in Sepsis (ICASIS 2013) in Sitges.
At the international two-day meeting, which is organised by VHIR’s Prof. Jordi Rello, Eduard will address the audience on the subject of how nanoparticles could make inroads into treatments for critical cases of sepsis.
Finally, PhD student Sergio Oller from the Signal and Information Processing for Sensing Systems group was interviewed for the programme “Connexió Barcelona”, which airs every evening from 18:00 to 20:00 on Barcelona TV.
Sergio’s four minutes of fame, in which he talks about the group’s research into the development of electronic noses based on the mammaliam olfactory system, will be broadcast on Thursday 18th April in the second half of the programme.
