Introduction to the vacant position:
The Molecular Imaging for Precision Medicine (MIPMED) is looking for a research assistant to participate in the ongoing research projects of the group. In particular, the contract will be within the framework of project “Metabolic Analysis of 3D Cell culture models for Metabolic Fatty Liver Disease using Organs-on-a-chip and Nuclear magnetic resonance (METACHIP)”.
The ideal candidate will have a background in biochemistry or a related field, with significant experience in cell cultures. Experience working with mice would be benefitial. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and international teams.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Be familiar with state-of-the-art literature on topics related to the project.
- Plan and conduct experiments.
- Analyse and interpret data.
- Willingness to work and handle mice in vivo for imaging experiments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to laboratory instruments and procedures.
- Managing lab inventory when needed, incl. ordering and receiving supplies and reagents.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and adherence to environmental health and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety manuals.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive lab environment.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications.
- Represent the lab at national and international scientific meetings.
Requirements for candidates:
Essential:
- BSc in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline
- Previous experience working in a laboratory environment, in particular in cell cultures
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international team environment
- Communication and teamworking skills, proactivity, commitment, critical and analytical thinking
- High level of English
Advantageous:
- MSc in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline
- International experience
- Knowledge on spectroscopic techniques (specifically on NMR and/or hyperpolarisation) will be a plus.
- Experience working with animal models will be a plus.
