Postdoctoral researcher at the Molecular Bionics Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:
We are a multidisciplinary group whose general objective is to design and characterise bionic units that mimic specific biological functions and/or introduce operations that do not exist in Nature. We apply a constructionist approach where we mimic biological complexity in the form of design principles to produce functional units from simple building blocks and their interactions. We called this Molecular Bionics. Such an effort is multidisciplinary and involves inputs from Chemistry, Physics, and Cell and Molecular Biology.
One of the focus of our research is the study of multivalent interactions between ligands and receptors, that govern many in vivo processes, and that we study and implement to nanomedicine applications.
Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving:
  • Assembly and bio-physical characterization of polymeric vesicles
  • Super selectivity studies of nano vesicles on biological substrates
  • Advanced imaging techniques to track nanoparticles
Requirements for candidates:
  • Degree and Master on any field on Physical Sciences or Engineering (including Physics, Biophysics, Chemical Physics/Physical Chemistry, Natural Sciences (with Physics), Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Engineering or Bioengineering,
  • Multidisciplinary qualifications (biological physics, physical biology, biological chemistry).
  • Previous experience in cell culture and cell imaging is highly advantageous
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork, Proactivity, Commitment, Collegiality, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking
  • High level of English
