Research Assistant at the Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:

The Biomaterials for Regenerative Therapies Group is looking for an Early Stage Researcher (PhD student) to develop his/her PhD thesis project on the development of novel treatments for cardiac regeneration. The contract will be within the framework of project BIOCARDIO, whose objective is to elucidate new insights in the capacity of cardiac self regeneration by means of biomaterials..

Main tasks and responsibilities / The successful candidate will develop research involving:

  • Lead the workpackages related to biological characterization and constructs testing
  • Biological in vitro preclinical testing of biomaterials
  • Accomplish with deliverables and milestones.
  • Supervision of Master students
  • Manuscript writing
  • In vivo testing

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

  • Multidisciplinary knowledge in the field of bioengineering with special emphasis in the area of cardiac tissue regeneration.
  • MSc in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, cell biology or related fields.
  • Experience in biomaterials and biological characterization
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
  • High level of English

Advantageous:

  • Experience in in vivo testing
  • License on animal care and handling
